THE STRIDER GAME SERIES - MICHAEL JOHN MOLLO

MICHAEL JOHN MOLLO ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF
THE DOUBLE HELIX/CAPCOM REBOOT OF
THE STRIDER GAME SERIES

The Music Pays Homage To The Style and Themes of the Classic Games

(February 23, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Michael John Mollo is proud to announce that he composed the original music for the Capcom release of STRIDER®. STRIDER® was developed by Double Helix and is available now as a $14.99 digital download title on PSN (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3), Xbox Live (Xbox One, Xbox 360) and PC (Steam).

“The approach to the music for STRIDER was to take the style and intensity of the original games from the late 80s, and breathe new life into the arrangements,” said Mollo. “I chose to feature old school synths and textures juxtaposed against modern sounds to both pay homage to the past but also move the sound of STRIDER into the 21st century.”

Michael John Mollo was born into a musical family and raised in rural Bloomsburg, PA. At a young age he learned the gift of song from his grandmother and the power of guitar from his father. As a teenager, Mollo developed his songwriting skills by listening countlessly to The Beatles, Paul Simon and Grateful Dead records. To further his musical understanding, Mollo pursued an education in classical music and jazz, eventually receiving multiple music degrees including a Master's of Music from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati and an advanced certificate in Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television from the University of Southern California.

In 2007, Mollo relocated to Los Angeles, CA to pursue his love for songwriting as well as composing music for film and television. After spending some time with Hans Zimmer and his team at Remote Control Productions, Mollo joined legendary film composer John Powell. Since then, he has contributed music to many blockbuster films including the Oscar nominated score for Dreamworks Animation's HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, 20th Century Fox’s RIO and DR. SEUSS’ THE LORAX.

Mollo has also developed a reputation in the Los Angeles scoring community as a talented synth programmer. Recent collaborations include, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS (with Academy Award®-winner Michael Giacchino) and ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH (with composer Aaron Zigman). Most recently Mollo completed his score for the education documentary WE THE PARENTS.

Mollo currently serves as CEO of Q6 Studios Inc. a collective of talented composers he founded with colleagues from USC. He continues to work on projects both large and intimate where he can explore new avenues of musical expression.
“We decided early on that it would be a good idea to re-arrange some of the classic STRIDER tunes for the game,” Mollo described. “Of course we had to use Raid. That was the first one we all agreed on. We also decided to include Coup, Mass Cloud, Armed Fortress, Egypt, Siberian Tunnel, and the original Kazakh Theme. We thought those tunes were the most iconic and best suited to accompany Strider as he enters the modern day. The remainder of the material consists of original tracks that I composed for the game.”

STRIDER returns in a brand new adventure, complete with incredible side-scrolling action, and lightning fast combat all in a massive interconnected world! Download the full game now and become the original assassin!

Lost Planet 3 - 2CD Alien Country Music and Score - Jack Wall [August 27th for Digital Download]

Lost Planet® 3 ‘Alien Country Music’ and ‘Score’
Double Album Available For Digital Download on Aug. 27

Los Angeles (August 23, 2013) – Award-winning composer Jack Wall will release the soundtrack for Capcom’s sci-fi action adventure video game Lost Planet® 3 on his label, Lost In Sound Records. Wall is best known for his rich, cinematic scores found within popular titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Myst III & IV, Splinter Cell: Pandora’s Tomorrow and Jade Empire. Featuring 37 tracks composed and produced by Wall, the Lost Planet 3 Original Soundtrack comprises two volumes, ‘Alien Country Music’ and ‘Score’, which will be released as a single package for digital download on iTunes and Amazon to coincide with the game’s release on August 27, 2013.

The Lost Planet 3 Original Soundtrack is presented in two volumes to reflect the distinct musical approaches for the game’s soundtrack. Volume 1 features country and rock instrumentation combined with organic drum and percussion elements, infused with modern synthetic elements to create a country music of the future.

“When Spark and Capcom asked me to write alien country as roughly half of the soundtrack to Lost Planet 3, I was really intrigued,” enthuses Jack Wall. “It would be the main character’s mix tape. This is the music Jim Peyton listens to when he’s on mission in his rig – the music his wife Grace, back on Earth, sends him to remind him of home. The challenge was to make it real, but add just enough elements and context to make it seem like it is music from the future.”

As well as composing and producing the Alien Country Music, Wall performs acoustic, baritone and electric guitars on all the tracks. Joining him on this unique sci-fi musical adventure, Wall formed and recorded a band of celebrated artists including composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica) on accordion, guitarist Craig Stull (Firefly) on dobro guitar, drummer Joe Travers (Zappa Plays Zappa), vocalist Cindy Shapiro (Myst III: Exile), and cinema’s foremost harmonica player, Tommy Morgan, amongst other talented musicians. Key tracks include: “Rattlesnake,” “A Long Way Home,” “Ballad of Jim Peyton,” and “Outlaw.”

Presented as Volume 2, Wall’s cinematic score is a blend of sci-fi orchestral and acoustic themes, spine-tingling atmosphere, and synthesized ambient textures, which serves to support the game’s compelling narrative, mysterious environments and epic action sequences. Key tracks include: “Lost Planet 3 Theme,” “The Ice Planet,” “The Vorgg,” and “The Forgotten.”

“For me the score needed to be two things: mysterious and wild,” explains Wall. “If I could inject those ideas into the music for E.D.N III, I would be doing my job. I’m very excited by what we’ve put together for players. The script, acting and story seamlessly intertwine with this music to create a tangible world.”

The Lost Planet 3 soundtrack is available for digital download through Lost In Sound Records on August 27.

About Lost Planet 3
-------------------------------------------
Lost Planet 3 delivers a mix of action both inside and outside of Jim’s Utility Rig vehicle. Acting as a home away from home and offering protection from the ever changing climate, Jim soon discovers the Utility Rig’s array of tools are just as useful at taking out Akrid as they are at helping him fulfill his contract work. Outside the rig, the action switches to third person with Jim at the mercy of the elements. He’ll need to battle against hostile enemies with a mix of gun and melee based combat in order to survive all that is thrown at him.

In addition to the single player campaign, Lost Planet 3 features four online multiplayer modes. Players select either the NEVEC forces or the Snow Pirates in a series of team-based battles that not only see them take on the opposing team, but also compete against the extreme conditions of E.D.N. III and hordes of Akrid.

Lost Planet 3 is scheduled to release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC on August 27th in North America.

Just Announced! Review Coming Soon... you know I love anything alien!

OLIVIER DERIVIERE SCORES "REMEMBER ME"

------------------------
Paris, France (April 22, 2013) - Classically trained multimedia composer Olivier Deriviere (Alone In The Dark, Of Orcs And Men), whose distinctive soundtracks have been recognized by Billboard and The New York Times, has crafted a unique, electronically manipulated live symphonic score for the upcoming action adventure video game Remember Me developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Capcom. Deriviere's dynamic emotional score is intricately woven throughout Remember Me's innovative 'memory remix' game-play experience and immersive futurist story set in Neo-Paris where personal memories are digitized, bought, sold and traded. Remember Me will launch on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in North America on June 4 and across Europe on June 7, 2013.

Remember Me is a 3rd person action adventure where players take on the role of Nilin, a former elite memory hunter with the ability to break into people's minds and steal or even alter their memories. The authorities, fearful of her knowledge and capabilities have arrested Nilin and wiped her memory clean. After her escape from prison, Nilin sets out on a mission to recover her identity, helped by her last and only friend. This search for her past leads to her being hunted by the very people that created this surveillance society. During the course of the story, Nilin will start remembering who she was and re-learning all the fighting moves that made her one of the world's leading memory hunters.
Olivier Deriviere's interactive musical score for Remember Me features live orchestra that has been digitally processed and manipulated with multiple layers and effects to create a futuristic - but entirely organic and acoustic - musical palette which reflects Nilin's memory loss and the reconstruction of her memories throughout the game.
Described by critics as "Cinematic and magnificent" (GameTrailers), "Fantastic and evocative" (IGN) and "One of the best soundtracks...this generation" (Destructoid), Deriviere's score dynamically reacts to the player's moves during gameplay and contains hidden messages about the story. Preview samples of the music are available on SoundCloud.
The score was recorded with the Philharmonia Orchestra at Air Studios in London by GRAMMY® award-winning score engineer John Kurlander and mastered at Universal Mastering Studios in Los Angeles.

Olivier Deriviere has previously scored numerous animation, film and video game soundtracks including the critically acclaimed interactive scores for Alone In The Dark, Of Orcs and Men and the Obscure video game series. Deriviere works with renowned recording studios, world-class engineers and performers, as well as employing the latest software and custom library sounds. An alumnus of Berklee College of Music (Jazz & Film Scoring) and the National Conservatory in Nice, France (Composition and Orchestration), Deriviere has recorded for games with the GRAMMY® award-winning choir The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices, The Boston Cello Quartet, The Boston String Quartet, The Children Choir of the National Opera of Paris and The Philharmonia Orchestra in London. His music has also been performed by the Cannes Symphony Orchestra, Monte Carlo String Quartet, and Utrecht Metropolitan Orchestra and Choir ("Games In Concert").
