Pic of the Day

Thanks to MNPP reader and pal Boyd for shooting us this photo -- Quebecois actor and delightful weirdo Théodore Pellerin is starring in a play in Montreal called Embrasse next month, and one of the promotional images has him reenacting the famous nude pose of the designer Yves Saint Laurent -- this is how you get audiences to go see your plays, people. According to our pal Boyd (I don't know French so the website's indecipherable to me) the play was written by Michel Marc Bouchard, who wrote Xavier Dolan's best film Tom at the Farm, and is about a young man who dreams of being a fashion designer. (The Dolan connection is interesting given the rumors that Pellerin is dating former Dolan star François Arnaud.)

(That rumor is my current Quebecois obsession.) Anyway it looks like the fine folks at Netflix have also discovered Pellerin, who first caught MNPP's eye thanks to his stellar turn in the cruelly brief single season of the series On Becoming a God In Central Florida (RIP to my beautiful baby) -- Pellerin had been around for a minute before that series, I know some of you were familiar with some of his earlier work, but I was not. Then he was in several things all of a sudden -- the two films Boy Erased and Never Rarely Sometimes Always foremost -- and we were quick finding ourselves smitten. Well Netflix did too it seems, as he's in two big projects for them right now (neither of which I've seen yet) -- the series Maid with Margaret Qualley and her mom that Andie Macdowell person, and the fright film There's Someone Inside Your House, which just premiered today. Let's hope this is just the start of a beautiful friendship!

Théodore Pellerin Four Times

I'm still in mourning over the second-thought cancellation of On Becoming a God in Central Florida, due to the pandemic -- it had originally been renewed but, you know, plague happened, and they pulled the plug. This was literally the worst thing to happen in 2020!!! Anyway I went looking for pain management on actor and cartoon-Frenchman Théodore Pellerin's Instagram page and came away with these four photos to share with y'all. You can see more of our previous Pellerin posts at this link -- specifically I really recommend this one. he's got more shape then you might think at first glance! Pellerin can also be seen in one of the year's best films, Never Rarely Sometimes Always, which I reviewed over here and highly recommend you seek out!

Quote of the Day

"There are a lot of Quebecois films and shows that made me fall in love with acting. I think Xavier Dolan’s films, which I watched when I was younger, made me fall in love with movies and acting in general."

-- That quote comes from actor Théodore Pellerin talking to Netflix's Queue magazine, and if the rumors are true about Pellerin possibly being romantically linked with actor Francois Arnaud, who memorably co-starred in Xavier Dolan's film I Killed My Mother that he grew up watching and loving, well -- good for Theo! I just sit here and blog about lusting for all of these actors but he actually went out there and made it happen. Kudos, really. (Also I would just like to add that  Francois has had Oliver Jackson-Cohen showing up on his social media a lot lately and... the mind boggles.)

Pics of the Day

I am shocked to discover that the movie I am about to talk about I have only brought up on Twitter, apparently -- if ever there was a movie that deserved my yammering to makes its way back here to the site for a proper post then this was the movie! The photo above is of the French actor Félix Mairtaud -- best known for the 2018 film Sauvage / Wild (reviewed here) but he was also in BPM and Knife+Heart and Gaspar Noé's Lux Æterna, and these are all movies you ought to see if you have not yet seen them) -- and the Quebecois actor Théodore Pellerin, best known for the Kristen Dunst series On Becoming a God in Central Florida, or his small roles in Never Rarely Sometimes Always and Boy Erased, or maybe from my ongoing Twitter thread about how he is probably dating also-Quebeqois actor François Arnaud.

Separate from the Theo-Fran thread though I tweeted the above back in February and that really should have made its way here to MNPP proper as a news-item, but did not -- Pellerin and Maritaud are co-starring in a movie called Drag from director Sophie Dupui, about two drag queens who fall in love. This movie doesn't even seem to have an IMDb page yet so I don't have much info to share, but the director has been sharing content from the shoot on her Instagram ...

... (as have the actors) and it appears that they have just finished shooting. (The photo at the very top of this post, which appears to be an official still, was shared by Felix on his Insta yesterday.) I should also add here that reader Marc-Antoine was kind enough to send me all this info back in February when I tweeted that first tweet, and I thank him for it! Obviously I will keep my eyes and ears and whatnot to the ground for more information when it's available -- stay your self tuned!

Théodore Pellerin One Time

(click to embiggen) Obviously I'm hoping that Loewe will drop more photos of actor Théodore Pellerin modeling for them but for now this one of the Lurker actor (via) is making me very happy! In related news -- Lurker is landing on MUBI on October 10th! You should catch it then if you haven't been able to catch it in theaters -- really love that movie.

Théodore Pellerin Eight Times

.
I've got a screening of the new film from Beach Rats director Eliza Hittman tonight -- called Never Rarely Sometimes Always the film's about a pair of Pennsylvanian teen girls who take a road-trip to NYC so one of them can get an abortion, and it co-stars (not as one of the teen girls I assume) the actor Théodore Pellerin seen here. If you watch Kirsten Dunst's terrific HBO series On Becoming a God in Central Florida then you're already more than familiar with this skinny god, and if you don't watch that show... watch that show, dammit. Until then hit the jump for several more photos...

Good Morning, World

I guess I just lack imagination because if you'd have told me that all it would take for Quebecois twink extraordinaire Théodore Pellerin to plunk himself comfortably down inside director Bruce La Bruce's eroticized punk pornographic aesthetic was a shaving of his head I'd have demanded evidence... and here's said evidence! Théodore shaved his head either for this Behind the Blinds photoshoot or for a role that happened to coincide with the shoot -- either way you can see in a couple of shots the hair getting shorter as it goes along...

... so it was happening while the shoot was happening. So hey Bruce la Bruce if you're listening and/or looking -- get in touch with Théodore's people ASAP.  I have been too busy with Tribeca to watch Solo, Pellerin's toxic drag queen romance with Felix Maritaud (and talk about another actor who should be working with Bruce La Bruce), but this shoot makes one feel as if Théodore. is looking to roughen up his image and I can imagine to no rougher. Hit the jump for what we've got of this shoot so far...

Théodore Pellerin Five Times

Apologies to the folks at Behind the Blinds magazine but I have been finding their whole interface a bit confusing -- there have been several photoshoots from their next issue I've posted about, or wanted to post about (all the photos of forthcoming Gossip Girl reboot actor Thomas Doherty have been via them) but they seemingly have like a dozen covers for the next issue, all of them hot young things, but I've only been able to find photos on each actor's Insta page? There's nowhere on their actual site to really link to. Like, Tom Mercier is one of them and he just shared a really hot snap on his disappearing Insta-stories (click that while it's hot) but I'd like to have a better quality shot to share, dammit. Anyway! One of these "cover" stars is our Central Florida twink Théodore Pellerin here, and Théo did indeed share these photos on his own Insta (oh and also the photographer's, in this instance), so I will share them here. Well after the jump, that is...

The Great Fantastic North

Monsieur Théodore Pellerin would like to welcome us to French-Canadia (I don't know why but it's always "French-Canadia" in my head so it stays) for this year's Fantasia Film Festival in beautiful Montreal, baby! Specifically I'm hoping Teddy will welcome me personally because tomorrow morning I'm hopping on a plane and heading up there for a another week of typically fantastic and scary movies like only Fantasia can do. Don't forget this is where I saw Skinamarink and Red Rooms for the first times! (Cue the incorrect Skinamarink haters in 3...2...1....) The fest kicks off today and it runs for a full three weeks, ending on August 3rd -- obviously I can't do the entire fest given that length of time but I still won't be back here writing for you again until next Thursday. (Or if French-Canadia will have me -- maybe never? Dare to dream.) Anyway you'll be getting reviews from me soon enough from the fest but since I already saw and reviewed Monsieur Pellerin's ace stalker thriller Lurker when it played Sundance I can go ahead and re-share that review as if it's a Fantasia one -- read my thoughts on Lurker right here. Terrific flick! And I'm hoping there will be another Skinamarink or Red Rooms shaped thrilling surprise ins tore for me this year -- stay tuned, make sure you check out their entire line-up at this link, and if you're a Canadian or traveler who's already planning on attending some of this stuff do make with the bonjours.

I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watchin' Me

My favorite movie from Sundance this year was the queer-ish thriller Lurker starring Archie Madekwe (Saltburn) playing a rising pop star and Théodore Pellerin as the fanboy who worms his way into his inner circle -- the movie really keeps you on your toes and both the leads (as well as Havana Rose Liu from Bottoms) are absolutely ace. Here is my review of it. Today they dropped the trailer...

... and the poster (see the bottom of this post) since the movie is hitting screens on August 22nd so prepare yourselves! Honestly maybe don't watch the trailer, as it gives a lot up. Just listen to me! Why isn't that enough for you? Have I literally ever steered you wrong? Each and every one of you agree with me 100% of the time and I won't hear otherwise.

Seriously though -- everybody is terrific in this movie but this is sort of the role that Pellerin (an actor I've loved in everything I've seen him in to date) was kind of born to play... which maybe seems like an insult, given the role? But the boy nails it so he shouldn't care. (It probably says more about me than it does him to be honest.) But yeah he's so great in this -- just utterly cuckoo delicious. Will probably be one of my, if not the most, favorite performances of the year. So slap this bitch on your calendar, yo. And hit the jump for a couple more gifs from the trailer of note plus that poster...

Stalk This Movie

Two of the best up-and-coming actors around get a showcase for their fine talents in Lurker, a Hollywood hanger-on thriller that just premiered at Sundance and which I have today reviewed right here at Pajiba. Said actors being Saltburn's Archie Madekwe (seen above) and Never Rarely Sometimes Always and On Becoming a God in Central Florida actor Théodore Pellerin (seen below and seen many more times in our archives). Madekwe plays a famous singer while Pellerin plays the fanboy turned best friend through diabolical means -- if you're getting Single White Female vibes from that description then good, but the movie's actually more interesting than just being a new entry in that stalker genre; it's interrogating our moment in time in a really darkly funny way and I very much dug it. Keep your eyes peeled for this one y'all!

Which is Hotter?

As far as I can tell it was totally happenstance that Quebecois actors Théodore Pellerin and François Arnaud posted photoshoots of themselves both by taken the same photographer Fred Gervais yesterday -- it was weird, both posts popped up in my Insta feed right next to each other, so I went looking to see if Theo & Fran were working together or something but I see nothing, save this coincidence. (Edited to add: when I just now went back and looked at Pellerin's post Arnaud had left a comment on it, saying "Love from Wentworth" whoever that is, so perhaps they do know each other.) Anyway it seemed like a good excuse for a poll, so here we are...

I Have Never Felt More Seen...

.
... than when they showed Ernie's son dancing to Paula Abdul

That moment hit harder than anything in Call Me By Your Name, even -- this was like somebody had actually hidden a video camera in my bedroom in 1992 and saved the footage for twenty-five years. Although I grew up in upstate New York I have a feeling a lot of this show's going to feel that way -- these people are kinda my people, more or less. Just slide in Jesus in place of their Get Rich schemes -- a surprisingly simple swap, that! -- and you've got me and MC Skat Kat not knowing what was about to hit us.

A significant shout-out to Théodore Pellerin seen there tighty-whiteying it in a pool in the pilot episode -- last seen by me getting frisky with Lucas Hedges in Boy Erased he's certainly making a name for himself, isn't he? He's very funny on the show -- standing out against Kirsten Dunst, Notorious Genius, isn't easy pickings, but he's managed for sure.

I mean obviously the tighty-whities grabbed my immediate attention, but he's kept it since then, not a tighty nor a whitey anywhere in sight(y). Aaaanyway are we all watching slash enjoying the show? And as I asked on Twitter, most importantly of all...

Arnaud Valois Sixteen Times

The ever-reliable folks at Behind the Blinds magazine coming through again with a sexy photo-shoot of one of our under-loved faves -- this time it's French actor Arnaud Valois, last seen romancing a sad-eyed Dan Levy in Good Grief and currently seen in the Karl Lagerfeld miniseries Becoming Karl Lagerfeld alongside MNPP faves Daniel Brühl and Théodore Pellerin...

...  and how in the hell have I not watched this series yet? I gotta push it on up the list. Are any of you more on it and already watching it? Anyway we've loved Arnaud since the masterpiece B.P.M. and we're happy he keeps getting work we wanna watch. Read the chat over at their website here, or just hit the jump for all of these hella fine photos...

Archie & Theo 4Eva

A movie I liked very much when I saw it at Sundance earlier this year is out in theaters tomorrow -- it's called Lurker and it stars Théodore Pellerin and Archie Madekwe as a stalker and the singer he stalks respectively. You can read my review right here. I've posted about it a bunch since then -- you can watch the trailer right here -- since it's deeply fucked up in several of my favorite delightful ways and I can't wait for y'all to see it. As for right now why not watch this "deleted scene" that the official Instagram account for the movie just shared of our lead twosome being very intimate? To get yourselves in the mood, of course. What mood, well I suppose that's up to you!

Harris Dickinson Ten Times

.
I got home from Beach Rats director Eliza Hittman's new film earlier this week -- it's called Never Rarely Sometimes Always and it co-stars Théodore Pellerin, I mentioned all of this earlier this week -- and in conversation with my boyfriend realized he'd never seen Beach Rats and didn't know who I was talking about when I talked about Beach Rats star Harris Dickinson here.

Imagine! I guess we're gonna have to watch Beach Rats this weekend. Anyway more to come to NRSA closer to when it's out on March 13th, but for now after the jump let's step backwards and share this photo-shoot of Harris in Esquire Singapore (via) which we've been waiting for for ever since the cover first got teased, and hopefully (cough cough) the bf is paying attention...

Pics of the Day

Two new photos from the upcoming queer-ish thriller Lurker have arrived -- starring Archie Madekwe as a pop star and Théodore Pellerin as an obsessed fan who weasels his way into the star's inner circle, Lurker played Sundance earlier this year where I saw, loved, and reviewed it and you can read that review right here. We don't have a trailer yet but I am assuming that's imminent because the folks at Mubi (who are distributing the movie) have given us a release date -- you can see Lurker for yourself on August 22nd. Oh unless you're here in NYC in which case you can see the movie much soon as it's the Closing Night movie of the New Directors New Films festival happening right now through this film's screening on April 15th. Looks like there are still tickets for it too! It's a movie to see! Very good.

Arnaud Valois Six Times

Always extremely happy when I can share a new photoshoot of my French boyfriend Arnaud Valois of BPM fame -- okay okay one of my many, many French boyfriends -- and this one is very fine! Via his Insta for a magazine called French Magazine apparently -- how literal! -- these go along with his turn playing Yves Saint Laurent in that Becoming Karl Lagerfeld miniseries that I somehow still haven't found the time to watch even though it also stars Daniel Brühl and Théodore Pellerin. I don't know! Have any of you watched it? Anyway you can hit the jump for the photos...

Hi Ho Solo

Finally some news on Solo, the "drag queen romance" starring MNPP faves Théodore Pellerin and Felix Maritaud that I have been posting on for two entire years now -- in February of 2022 I stumbled on some pictures from the movie's set (it was called Drag back then) and I have been (im)patiently awaiting the final product ever since. Even as it screened at fests (it won Best Canadian Feature at TIFF) for other less attentive people, I have waited. And finally my time has come! Solo is hitting NYC on May 24th and L.A. the week after (and then presumably inward toward the middle parts of the country from there), and we've got a trailer! Watch:
