Chevrolet Tracker which was earlier known as Geo Tracker is a SUV manufactured by CAMI Automotive for Chevrolet and Geo. Though it looks like a SUV it was officially qualified as a Light Truck owing to its capabilities off-road. In a joint venture with CAMI, GM developed the SUV and introduced it as a 1989 model in the late 1988. Suzuki’s 1.6 L SOHC 4-cylinder engine powers Tracker for a power of 80hp. The 1989 models were convertibles, 2-door hardtops and LSi hardtops. The vehicle’s equipment included 3-speed automatic transmission from GM Turbo-Hydromatic 180, Air-conditioner, rear window wiper/washer, intermittent wipers, spare tire cover and rear bucket seats in red/black. The trackers were offered with 4 wheel drive since their induction and only in 1992 a convertible with 2-wheel drive was introduced. The 2-door made way for the 4-door hardtop wagon in 1995. Geo was merged with Chevrolet and all its models and the Tracker were rebadged in 1998 as a Chevrolet.
