The world famous Renault 5 can be categorized as a supermini that was produced by Renault in 1972. There were two generations offered for this car during these 13 years of first generation production and almost 5.5 million units were sold. Renault Clio is the successor of the Renault 5. The earlier engines of the car included 850 to 1,289 cc engines and a 1397 cc engine was released later.

The best feature of the car is probably the extremely spacious passenger cabinet as compared to the other small European cars. It was presented as a 3-door hatchback and a 5 door hatchback was also introduced. It is interesting to note that the four-door saloon version of the first generation was called the Renault 7. The initial power came from 1.4 L (1,397 cc) however, with the addition of a single Garrett T3 turbocharger increased the power output to 110 bhp.
