volvo 140 series

The Volvo 140 series was a range of executive cars manufactured by the Sweden car manufacturers Volvo between 1966 and 1974. The range of Volvos included the Volvo 142 two-door Sedan, Volvo 144 four-sedan and Volvo 145 five-door station wagon. In 1966 manufacturing of Volvo 144 was carried out from Torslandaverken, Sweden as model year 1967 and this was the model that used the tri-digit nomenclature depicting the series, cylinder and type e.g. 1st series, 4-cylinder, 4-door for “144”. The vehicle was designed more as a boxy type. In 1973 the series received major renovations with new large indicators, new plastic grille and also a renovated tail. The cabin had a totally renewed dashboard which consisted of dials in place of the previous strips, rocker switches and vent for better airflow to the driver. The Volvo 140 series sold a total of 523,808 4-doors sedans, 412,986 2-doors sedans and 268,317 station wagons.
