Yamaha SR500 was one of the motorcycles of Yamaha to see the longest active production periods which largely owed to the universal appeal and generation proof design. The regular and extremely ordinary design with the most normal riding posture generating steering handle, the medium height seat and standard design and size fuel tank marked some of the features which gave the SR500 the universal liking biking enthusiasts of all age groups. With a sturdy air cooled, 4 stroke 499 cc displacement engine which produced a substantial 31 horsepower and acceleration which reached a top speed of 145 kilometers per hour, Yamaha SR500 had pretty much everything one could ask for. First launched in 1978, SR500 was discontinued in 1999. It also saw a younger brother, which had a 400 cc engine released in Japan to meet the tough emission regulations then with everything else staying pretty much the same.
