A whole lot of paintin' going on!

There has most definitely been a whole lot of painting going on at the Boothman house.
It amazes me how much a can of paint can transform almost anything!
Nearly every day I put on my painting duds and head upstairs. It seems to be a never ending
project. It is a small room so I can't imagine how long it would take me to do a large room!

To be fair, I had to work around furniture and that is always FUN...not!

So, these photos are kinda in the wrong order...oops!  I wanted a plank wall in the room upstairs
so that is what we worked on last week...the hubs and I. He is a great sport about trying to fulfill my wishes. :)

We purchased a sheet of 1/4 inch plywood and ripped it down in 6 inch strips.
Then I laid them out on sawhorses and started painting them. I thought I was done and the hubs thought
I needed to add some white. I DID!! HOW HORRIBLE does this look??? HAHA!!

NOPE this is not staying this way. It looks like a spotted owl on steriods!!

Second go around MUCH BETTER! In fact I am in love with it...{if you can be in love with
a WALL} We have talked about putting can lights above it ...time will tell. We definitely need
more light in this room and I think they would be perfect.

This is one of the first pictures I took when I started working on the room. Just sneak peaks, but trust
me you don't want to see all the UGH! This room hasn't been re-decorated for 16 years!! IT WAS TIME!

I initially wanted to just remove the wallpaper at the top and paint the wall because I am
SO OVER WALLPAPER, but as fate would have it, that wasn't a possibility with these old walls.

We don't have the money or the UMPH to take it all down to the studs and put up drywall so I
WALLPAPERED AGAIN....just the top part though. I used a textured paper that is great
for hiding imperfections in old houses.

Last time this room was fixed up was for our 19 year old daughter and that was in 1999!
Oh , mercy!! How did I let it go this long?? AND what in the world was I thinking when
I decorated it the way I did way back then?? I will have to dig out a photo sometime and
share it.  You won't believe it. :)

This is a built in bookcase that we really don't have the option to take out so I am adding
some detail to it. It looks much better than it did ...trust me! Prior to this it was loaded
with shelves and books. No more. I think I am going to be getting rid of a LOT of books.

Woke up today and  I decided to paint the entry doors of our house.
{no I am NOT done upstairs. ha!}
You have to do it while the weather is nice and it was beautiful today.

This is the first coat on our back door. It went on a light gray primed door that had never
been painted.

This is the outside of the front door. The SAME paint on this door as the back. It was already
painted dark blue {several years ago} so this is on top of that.
After painting it, I am not sure if it will adhere good to this door, so this one may have to be
stripped down {dear Lord, I hope not!} and re-painted. Time will tell.

I LOVE the color! I found this color or kinda this color on Pinterest and fell in love with it.
I knew our doors have needed painted for a long time so I took the plunge. This is
WAY OUTSIDE THE BOX for me, but I do like it.

There is always so much to do when you own and old house and it seems at times that it
 is never-ending.

I will share pictures of the whole room once it is all done. I think you will like it.
I know I will!

I'm in a gray, gray mood...

 Can you tell?

{truthfully a little of that going on inside of me as well , but it is getting better. Today I put on my
 big girl panties and pulled them wayyyy up so I hope they stay there this time!}

A peek inside my gray bedroom...it has been decorated this way for a few weeks, months, ...could it
possibly be years?? Parts of it have been I am sure and it needs some tweaking, but I am leaving it
 as is for now.

I know all of it hasn't been this way for years because I have added a few
treasures as of late such as the dress form that I found at Hobby Lobby
for $6.00!

I am still in love with my Simply Shabby Chic shower curtains that I use for closet
doors. I also have these same curtains on the windows. I just love the gray and
white design.

I know I have shown you these lavender sachets before, but...
YEP, they are still hanging on my bed.

A window that I adorned awhile back and a  small canvas tote that I embellished.

This is the mirror that hangs above my bed. Another Hobby Lobby find several years ago that I
painted white.

Isn't that black box on the dresser just precious? ha!

One day I will take ballet lessons...umm...NOT, but I love these shoes!
Worn by a true ballerina no less!

Are you in a gray mood today also?

Sharing with Grey Dey Thursday this week...IF I remember. lol

The big black box

I got up this morning and decided that I was tired of looking at the big black box on our bedroom dresser so I set about making a cover for it and this is the result.

{notice the dresser handle on the bottom left...lol... I also started painting this dresser a few weeks ago and this is as far as I have gotten. ha! One of these days...}

It is just a piece of fabric that I added embellishments to and threw over the tv. No fancy seams or anything. Just a square piece of fabric.

I sewed on a tulle ruffle and then added cheesecloth on top of that. Hand stamped ribbon on top of the cheesecloth. Very haphazard...no measuring. Just wanted to make something fun that wouldn't take long or tax my brain too much. :)

This is how it looked before...ugh.

I also added a vintage hanky and a fabric pin with ribbon tails.

Lest you think I spent hours sewing this rickrack, lace and tucks in this fabric...no, I did not. I purchased the fabric this way. It was on clearance so I purchased what they had left. {JoAnn Fabric}

Hope you enjoyed your peek into my bedroom again today.
Blessings~

Tresors from my bedroom

I thought I would let you take a peek inside my bedroom today. I think I have shown parts of it quite some time ago, but it has been awhile. Not much has changed except for an accessory or two, but I have been playing around in PicMonkey so the photos are a bit different. That program is very addicting and I can see how a person could waste spend hours in there playing around.

Notice the white lanterns? I hung these on my chandy just to get them out of the way when I had the fairy party for my grands LAST SUMMER! I keep thinking that I need to move them, but somehow it always gets pushed to the very bottom of my to do list.

A very favorite vintage ceiling tin frame that has been in here forever, but I just LOVE it!

Also , a very favorite shelf that I have had for several years as well and wish I had more. :)

The beautiful photo in the frame came from Alice over at Thoughts from Alice blog.

An old shutter, vintage lace and just lovely goodness.

I have a obsession with vintage mirrors and this one is a favorite, along with my linen bag that I purchased at the French Flea in Tipton, Indiana the first year they had it.

Donna from D. Reyne made the bag and she did an awesome job.

See, I CAN do color !! ha!

I used to have tons of scarves hanging on each curly-q that is on the hanging planter, but I just took them off a week or two ago. Sometimes a gal just needs a change.

I hope you enjoyed your mini tour of my bedroom today.  My bed isn't made yet today, but I will get to that as soon as I post this. lol.

 I spent the last two days over at my sons house babysitting my two precious granddaughters and I took lots of photos, so I hope to be doing a post soon.

Happy Thursday!! :)

{Note: Don't you just love the metal cross in the first photo? I scooped that up at Hobby Lobby in their 80% off sale. I had to fork over a whopping 80 cents for it. Funny thing is that I had looked at it several weeks ago , but it didn't have a price so I just put it back. Sometimes it is just a hassle to get that figured out, but I was there again last week and saw it in the discount pile so decided I wasn't leaving without it. ha!}

Sharing this post over at Timewashed : Blissful Whites Wednesday. If you have a minute please head on over and check it out.

The room we stayed in is just below the peak .
The great part for us is that both times we have stayed here

I highly recommend this B and B for a lovely getaway.
{and they did not tell me to say that...lol}
The hospitality and atmosphere is just wonderful.
Tomorrow I will share more photos of the inside.
