Spring has sprung round the house

I have been told to get on the ball and post something...anything...so here we are.
I was wandering around the house today and thought I would take some photos of
my vintage shutter in my bedroom.

I added this glittter slipper ornament  and lace a week or so ago...

...and today I added this flower garland that I made a few years ago...

...yep , I tend to hold onto things forever. Maybe it is time to make a new one?

I shot from this angle and that angle...

...up high...

...down low...

...
and every which way. ha!

Sorry if you are a bit overwhelmed with all the pics...

I have been overwhelmed for days, but I think there is a light
at the end of the tunnel...it is barely flickering , but I can see it!!

...and I am trusting God to work all things out. So thankful that I have Him to lean on
in troubled times. God is good...all the time!

A lovely gift...from my daughter

Have you ever seen such a cute candleholder? I used to have a vintage plant holder almost just like this only much larger of course.  My daughter gave this to me for part of my Christmas gift this year. I knew I would have fun fixing it all up.  I wrapped glass votive holders with doilies {some stamped with script}, added some fake pine and candles and started taking pictures. {don't have any real pine yet}

I shot photos from many angles.

I think there was a fingerprint on the lens for this photo...seems a little *hazy* in the middle.lol.

pretty in white

I started decorating a bit today {yes I am just starting } which led me to thinking about the story I saw on 60 minutes Sunday evening. It was about how many homeless people there are in the US. { the greatest percentage are in Florida} If you didn’t see it, it was heartbreaking. The reporter talked to children who were wise beyond their years and shouldn’t have to worry about the things they do. Finding a “safe” place to park their vehicle for the night, getting ready for school in gas station restrooms, not having enough food for one meal let alone all day long. Just doesn’t seem right here in America. Sometimes I think I should just sell it ALL and donate the money. We certainly can’t take it with us. Maybe a fresh start would be good.

I have more decorations than one person should have. I realize it comes from years of accumulation, but something has to give. Old ornaments, trees, houses, tinsel, decor...decor...decor...get the picture? I used to think that I had to haul out EVERY item and use it somewhere, but not anymore! I don’t like the “decorate to the max” look anymore and I am trying to figure it all out. What to get rid of and what to keep. I am going to work hard at “de-stuffing” my life in 2012. I won’t get rid of everything, but I have enough stuff for several people and much of it is going. I know I would feel much more at peace with a good purging in my home and in my heart as well.
Blessings~

Digging around...and trouble commenting

Just a quick post to show you a few random photos that I found while digging around in my online folders. I purchased this huge candleholder when my sister was home from PA and we went junking in Blissfield, Michigan. It was only $5.00 so I snatched it right up. I do love a good bargain...does that make me cheap? :)

When I arrived home with my treasure my hubby informed me that there were supposed to be four places that hold the candles and sure enough...looking it over there should have been another candle cup on the arm in the back, but I still love it! Sometimes I am not a very observant person. When hubby is with me and I find glass items I always hand it to him to look over in case I missed something. It is great to have another set of eyes along. :)

I found these scissors several weeks ago as well at an antique mall for $2.00. Can't beat that. Love the shape.

This "S" is one I purchased at Hobby Lobby when they were 1/2 off . It was gold before I gave it my white treatment. The dainty lace holding it on the basket is very old.

  I found this top at the Goodwill and purchased it just because it was loaded with ruffles. It is already cut apart and one of these days I will make something neat with it...that is the plan anyways. :)

I picked up this yarn at a thrift store because I love the colors. I will use it for tags and as *ribbon* for gifts as well.

 I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.  It is so cold today in Michigan. Forecast is high of 54 degrees, but next week it is supposed to warm up into the upper 70's again. Can't keep up with this crazy weather we have been having. Cold and rainy one day and warm the next.  We have had so many rainy days lately that we haven't had a chance to mow our yard that desperately needs it. It will be six feet high before we can get to it at this rate. ugh.
Blessings to each one of you today!

PS I have tried and tried to comment on many of your posts today and it is not working. I will click to submit comment and the comment box comes back up with nothing in it. Tried several times and the same problem...today when my computer is not doing too bad and I actually COULD leave a comment...many don't work...blogger issue??

White Wednesday...Doily overload

Quote for the day:
When life gives you lemons,
throw them back and demand chocolate!

now that I have your attention...lol...

I love these french embellished crochet doilies.

{I won them over at Rhonda's blog...she makes
the most amazing things!}

I have been up to my ears in paper doilies for the
past couple days!
I purchased them at a garage sale and have been
tea staining part of them. There is no longer a kitchen table for us to eat at
because it is filled with doilies!!

I have been using some of them for my packages
of inspirational sayings that are headed up to my
booth soon...that is the plan anyways.

2 different sizes...I found several packages at
a garage sale and I only bought three.
I should have purchased all of them!

{they came in a pack of 240 and were 25 cents and 50 cents a pkg}

This cute little bird candleholder was hanging out at the same garage sale so I had to bring him home with me. I see potential in this short , short skirt, but I won't be wearing it. lol. I picked it up at the Goodwill because of the raggy look of the pockets and ruffles. {it is supposed to look this way} I will use it in something that I create...someday.

Love this tattered look ruffle on the bottom of the skirt!

This beautiful set marked Germany was at the Goodwill for 55 cents for each piece.

Somedays they amaze me. There are days when I think things are way overpriced and then some days things are underpriced! {Love the underpriced days better!! }

Please excuse some of my photos today. The lighting was not good at all so there are dark areas in some of the photographs.

Happy WW!! Visit Kathleen over at Faded Charm for more WW posts.

Blessings~

White Wednesday Blessings ~

I love photos from underneath objects, don't you ~
this candleholder hangs in a corner of my living room.
it has five candleholders on it and
it was a goodwill find last year for $3.00 ~
a vintage white rose and ribbon
that I added to an old basket ~ I love embellishing old things for new use ~
my bargain of the day {last week}
$1.00 for this basket at an antique mall ~
I wonder what the little girl was like
who wore this dress~
Good Morning Blessings~

This morning when I wakened
and saw the sun above,
I softy said, "Good morning, Lord
Bless everyone I love".
Right away I thought of you
and said a loving prayer
that He would bless you specially,
and keep you free from care.
I thought of all the happiness
a day could hold in store,
I wished it all for you because
No one deserves it more.

Kathleen from Faded Charm
hosts White Wednesday every week
so check out her blog for all the participants. I don't get to as many of them as I would like because
of my slow internet, but there are
many lovely ones!
Blessings~
