Tinkering

It has been a long time since I have been able to "tinker" {as Elyse calls it}

I like that word.

I had some extra time on my hands today so I hauled out my supplies and got started.
Easter is coming up pretty fast and I wanted to make some white crosses.

 I have always been enamored with pretty papers, and all the little tid bits that most people
just throw away. Not me.  I keep them ALL to make

something...anything.
...and once in awhile inspiration actually hits. ha!

{a little hoarding tendencies maybe? No, not me??}

This craft is so easy that even the kiddos can do it so get your little ones
at the table , gather up your supplies and let's begin!

I used some almost transparent white paper from my stash along with cheesecloth,
rubber stamps and flowers.

{I won these pretty flowers in a giveaway from Elyse several months ago}

I had several stamps to choose from and the one I chose says:

 "he has risen"

I started folding the paper at one end and folded it over several times.

Then I cut off the excess and glued it down.

I also tore off the ends instead of cutting them off to make it more rustic looking.

Next , pick your rubber stamp of choice and stamp it right onto the cross.

I adore cheesecloth and use it for so many things. I took a piece of it and wound it
around the cross. You can wind it any way you choose. No right or wrong ways here.

I glued the cheesecloth down in a few places and then added some flowers.

{Now that I look at the three I finished, I should have used assorted stamps, but oh well}

Wouldn't these be cute to lay on each plate for Easter dinner?

As I said...SIMPLE and EASY PEASY...anyone can make these.

I am almost embarrassed to even put the instructions on here.

You could even add some thin silver string at the top to hang them up if you so desired.

Do you think you will make some? Please let me know if you do!

Are you ready for Easter??

Tresors from my bedroom

I thought I would let you take a peek inside my bedroom today. I think I have shown parts of it quite some time ago, but it has been awhile. Not much has changed except for an accessory or two, but I have been playing around in PicMonkey so the photos are a bit different. That program is very addicting and I can see how a person could waste spend hours in there playing around.

Notice the white lanterns? I hung these on my chandy just to get them out of the way when I had the fairy party for my grands LAST SUMMER! I keep thinking that I need to move them, but somehow it always gets pushed to the very bottom of my to do list.

A very favorite vintage ceiling tin frame that has been in here forever, but I just LOVE it!

Also , a very favorite shelf that I have had for several years as well and wish I had more. :)

The beautiful photo in the frame came from Alice over at Thoughts from Alice blog.

An old shutter, vintage lace and just lovely goodness.

I have a obsession with vintage mirrors and this one is a favorite, along with my linen bag that I purchased at the French Flea in Tipton, Indiana the first year they had it.

Donna from D. Reyne made the bag and she did an awesome job.

See, I CAN do color !! ha!

I used to have tons of scarves hanging on each curly-q that is on the hanging planter, but I just took them off a week or two ago. Sometimes a gal just needs a change.

I hope you enjoyed your mini tour of my bedroom today.  My bed isn't made yet today, but I will get to that as soon as I post this. lol.

 I spent the last two days over at my sons house babysitting my two precious granddaughters and I took lots of photos, so I hope to be doing a post soon.

Happy Thursday!! :)

{Note: Don't you just love the metal cross in the first photo? I scooped that up at Hobby Lobby in their 80% off sale. I had to fork over a whopping 80 cents for it. Funny thing is that I had looked at it several weeks ago , but it didn't have a price so I just put it back. Sometimes it is just a hassle to get that figured out, but I was there again last week and saw it in the discount pile so decided I wasn't leaving without it. ha!}

Sharing this post over at Timewashed : Blissful Whites Wednesday. If you have a minute please head on over and check it out.

I have come to a realization...

...but we will go on  a side trip before I share that realization with you.  Remember my last post I told you
about my sick little car. Yep...it is still in the great state of Pennsylvania being repaired.  We have to wait
until next weekend to go out and get it because that is the only time it will work out so...being stuck
in my house day in and day out, I decided I better have something to show for it.

At least a *little something* anyway. :)

One day this past week I noticed that one of my seam binding spools was empty so I decided
to utilize part of it and make my own smaller spools to wrap some of my vintage lace onto.

I love how they turned out. One of these days , maybe I can get myself together enough
to show you how I made them.  I think they turned out pretty cute , don't you?

I grabbed some tags that I had punched out long ago and wrote on the back how many yards of lace
was on each spool and then tied them with ribbon.

I have lace...lots  and lots of lace...you could even say miles and miles of lace...:)

I also wanted to wish each and every one of you a very Happy Easter! Easter is
what it's all about as we rejoice in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

Now...back to the realization...man I really got lost there didn't I? Being at home day in and
day out with no vehicle to travel around in,  made me realize just how much STUFF I have in
this small house and it is getting quite overwhelming. I wouldn't consider myself a hoarder
 by any means, but I have way too much so...if you notice off to the left of my blog I have
listed a few things for sale and will continue to add things periodically. Something has to
give and I thought I might as well share them with my online buddies if they so desire.
Just email me if you are interested in anything and I can give you the details. :)

Enjoy the Easter weekend!!

Tiny peat pot crown

I had this idea mulling over in my head for several months and yesterday I decided to just jump
in and attack it full force.  Seriously, not hard at all and not perfect, but I thought it turned
out pretty cute for something I just figured out as I went along.

I just took a small peat pot and started cutting. Now as I said not perfect, but hey it is my first one.
I can see unlimited possibilities and designs with this idea.

I wanted to incorporate a cross somehow and I think the cross should have been smaller,
but it is what it is.  Hopefully the next one will be more to scale, but don't count on it.
I fly by the seat of my pants most days when I create! :)

I added a crown earring for some extra bling along with a few white flowers.

Sitting on a favorite shelf in my bedroom.

Hanging out with vintage flowers.

You can tell more by this photo the size it actually is. Just right for a tiny fairy maybe??
Hope you enjoyed my little creation today.
