A Marshall's Gift Card

What is a girl to do when her hubby gives her a gift card to Marshall's for Christmas??

{She found out right quick!}

She heads for the nearest store and spends it! lol

I had seen these spools of ribbon and trim in TJ Maxx and Home Goods before Christmas
and loved them, but did not purchase any.

I was trying to be good and I am downright proud of myself :)

I also picked up this gray throw.

With everything half off you can get twice as much..

WIN, WIN!!

Blessings~

Creating Pumpkins!

I wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone. I have been making pumpkins lately and having so much
fun doing it. I have intended to make these for years, but kept putting it off. Well, I had enough of
that! ha! My dining room overfloweth with cute fabric pumpkins of all sizes with REAL dried
pumpkin stems. Some of these will head off to a friends booth and a few will be listed online.
{If you happen to see any that you just can't live without give me a hollar}

{I do have one set listed in my Etsy store, but that is as far as I have gotten. Click here
for the pumpkins or here for my whole shop}

I made a few out of old soft, natural batting and love them!

Love this fabric also. It just says FALL to me.

I saved up a bunch of pumpkin stems from last year and WHO KNEW they are so expensive to buy?
I saw them going for $1.00 each on ebay. One auction of 30 went for $36! Wowza! I think I need to
go into the pumpkin business!

My dining room hutch...don't look at all the other stuff...just a quick shot.

I hope everyone is doing well. It was a whirlwind of a Labor Day weekend for us as we spent most
of it at our daughters home with her family. We arrived Friday afternoon and came back home on
Monday.  The whole weekend was busy, busy , busy , but it was a fun busy.  I was so exhausted
when I got home. lol. We have to grab and hold onto these moments whenever we can and cherish
them!  Life is way too short at the longest.  The older I get , I am realizing that more and more.

Are you ready for fall? Making pumpkins?? I am SO READY for it, but not the winter that follows.

Blessings~

Creation of a tattered garland...

I saw a garland on facebook that someone had made and it gave me the motivation that I have been needing
to make one. I have been wanting to do it for a few months, but just never sat down and started before this,
so start I did and am I ever glad!

I am loving the way it turned out!

The sky is the limit on these fun beauties! Any color, any fabric, trim etc.

long...short...old...new...

A work in progress in my dining room

How fun would these be hanging outside in the summer

just because...
OR ...for a garden party, in a potting shed, on a porch ...anywhere really!! :)

I do believe I will be making more.
I want to make a soft pastel one soon and I can't wait to see how it
turns out.

A few of them just might land in my Etsy shop as well so be on the lookout
if you are interested.

Happy Sunday!

Spring in the linen closet??

Oh how I am longgggging for Spring!! YES...SPRING...full blown spring!! I know many of you
are as well so here's to hoping it arrives soon!!

Today I gathered up some of my supplies and my oodles of vintage flowers and made a
couple vintage flower garlands. The lighting still isn't all that great so I only have this
one photo for you. Hopefully more soon. I love how it turned out.

I have held onto this fabric above for a few years and I am GOING to get something made
out of it this year. I WILL...I WILL...remind me of that later will ya?? :)

Stashes of my gorgeous lace that I had to share with you when I saw how pretty it looked stacked up
all together. This is a drop in the bucket of what I have and I love it all.

More laces and doilies...in LOVE...Happy Spring my dear friends even though it has
not arrived here yet...hopefully soon.  If we keep thinking that,  it just may arrive and surprise us all!!

Joyeux Noel

I have been playing in my studio and I had fun putting together this little box of treasures.

I started by covering a small box with Joyeux Noel paper.

I added some puffy stars that I always have fun making along with some white jingle bells,
a crown earring and a fabric piece.

I also put in a white gauze flower pin and some tinsel candy canes.

Next I added one of my stickers that I won several months ago...

A piece of fabric that I had rubber stamped with ice skates and snow flakes

A french inspired tag

I knew it wouldn't be complete without some punched snowflakes and doves

This is my favorite piece...I made this tag and added some swarovski crystals where
the "berries" should be. I will say for future reference...glitter and THEN add the crystals..
not the other way around.. :)

At the very bottom of the box are two fabric frenchy tags.

This is the box all wrapped up. Yep, once again Sandi got things upside down. I had to stand
on my head to read the Joyeux Noel on the wrapping paper. ha ha!

The gorgeous paper...

I had fun doing this and after Christmas I might just make another one for a giveaway.

What do you think? Would you be interested? I am always running behind, but hey
you could use it for next year.

JOYEUX NOEL everyone!!

Window Dilemma...

I am in need of a little advice so I am throwing it out there in hopes that someone will come to
my rescue.  This is my kitchen window. My only kitchen window. No , it is not above
the sink where I would like it, but nevertheless it is a window amd I am very thankful for it.

I have had this vintage shutter up along with these curtains for several years because I love
the look so much...however...that being said it is time for a change. I still LOVE the shutter
there, but think I want different curtains. I would love NO CURTAINS at all, but I really don't
have a choice because the afternoon sun really shines in this room.

Question: Leave the shutter, curtains...take it all down? Sill length curtains,
floor length, what kind of fabric?? HELP please!! I have even considered
leaving the shutter up , but adding brackets so it is slanted down like an
awning and adding some chippy , shappy posts or half posts
to the sides.

The ideal solution is in a couple years to tear the whole kitchen apart, put in a new
window and on and on, but I just don't know if I have the umph for that at my age.
We do all of our projects ourselves and I am just getting tired. :)

So glad my herbs were on their best behavior the day I took these photos. Sometimes
they don't get the attention that they deserve and they get kinda droopy looking. :)

Dusted off my sewing machine!

I have been busy this week sewing up Christmas stockings. I decided it was high time I dusted off the sewing machine and got to work. My kitchen looked like disaster central for a few days, but I was having fun! Isn't that is what is most important?? :) I made up my mind before I started that I was going to use fabric I already had and not go out and purchase any.  My birthday gift this year from my bff was wrapped in a huge piece of  fabric so I made a few from that and then I also used some old feedsacks and had fun sewing up a storm!

A few stockings in progress...

This is one I made out of feedsack fabric stains and all...just like I purchased it.  I just put the ruffle and decoration on the front of the feedsack stockings and then realized that the ruffle should have gone all the way around ! I don't know what I was thinking!! Oh well...who sees the back anyways right?? :)

I have a zillion or so old buttons so I added a few to pretty it up.

I really like the double ruffle and fabric rose on this one.

I cup up a vintage runner with a crocheted edging to add as a *cuff* for this stocking and then added two vintage buttons that I love.

This stocking has a story...roses are pinned on...still trying to decide placement etc. See photo below! ha!

Here ya go...King Kongs stocking!!! lol.
(same stocking as  photo above)  I actually had a pattern for this stocking and did not realize how large it would be when finished. 24 inches long!! That is one large stocking. I also lined it and quickly gave that up on the other stockings. I think it made it too bulky.

Believe it or not this is what I started out the week doing and quickly set this project aside...unfinished...to sew!

All in all I feel pretty good about what I got accomplished in a couple days. Not working solid, but the kitchen was sure a mess all that time. grrr...my messes seem to follow me into whatever room I am in at the time. I can't seem to keep it all confined to my studio so I gave up trying. :)
Happy Friday and happy weekend. Not sure what is planned for our weekend, but I intend to make some memories. Hopefully the good kind! ha!
