The ASRock X99 motherboard lineup has been unleashed with a total of nine new X99 chipset based boards for overclockers, enthusiasts and gamers. Boasting the High-End LGA 2011 V3 socket, the ASRock X99 products are fully compatible with the Haswell-E processors from Intel and the next generation DDR4 memory standard. The motherboards will feature several new technologies aimed at overclockers and gamers with the OC and Killer FATAL1TY series.

ASRock X99 Motherboards Unleashed - X99 OC Formula, X99 Professional FATAL1TY, X99 Extreme 6

The ASRock X99 lineup consists of nine motherboards which include the X99 OC Formula, X99 Killler FATAL1TY, X99M Killer FATAL1TY, X99 Professional FATAL1TY, X99 Extreme 6, X99 Extreme 4, X99 Extreme 3 and the X99 M Extreme 4 motherboards. All of the motherboards feature the latest generation of Super Alloy technology which new and improved components do deliver the best stability and performance out of the hardware. This includes the upgraded XXL Aluminum Alloy Heat Sink for great heat dissipation, Ultra Dual-N MOSFET (UDN) that delivers more efficient Vcore power supply with lower Rds(on), Premium 60A Power Choke that offers 3 times better saturation current, highly magnetic and heat resistant design Premium Memory Alloy Choke and 12K Platinum Capacitor to ensure stable performance and industry’s longest lifespan - 12,000 hours.

The OC series boasts an impressive design with conformal coating which is achieved through the use of Polysiloxanes also known as Silicon which protects the motherboard against conductive liquids and dust. The coating prevents the motherboard from moisture, dust, corrosion, extreme temperatures, oxygen, ozone and UV Light. Other features include the Purity Sound 2 and Killer E2200 LAN chip across the X99 lineup.

ASRock X99 OC Formula Motherboard

ASRock X99 OC Formula MotherboardThe ASRock X99 OC Formula is a beauty in all of its glorious yellow and black color scheme featuring ASRock’s conformal coating, Super Alloy Design and signed by ASRock’s in-house overclocker, Nick Shih. This board has a ton of features and is jam packed with so many technologies, that it gets ridiculous to detail each one of them. In terms of design, the ASRock X99 OC Formula makes use of a 12 Phase PWM and the socket is powered by a 8-Pin+4-Pin EPS connector scheme in addition to the 24-Pin power connector that provides juice to the board. Since this is built by ASRock, we expect to see some high quality components including the Super Alloy Power design which includes 50G Aluminum Alloy heatsinks, Premium Alloy Chokes, Dual-Stack MOSFETs, Japanese made high-quality conductive polymer capacitors to make is run and perform better.

The board has four sets of heatsinks, two for the PWM and power area which are located on the top and interconnected via a heatpipe while the second set is located over the PCH and below the socket which are also connected through a heatpipe. The side of the DIMMs include several overclocking options such as Menu and Plus/Minus buttons to adjust BCLK. The menu switch opens up the BIOS directly on boot while the LN2 mode, PCI-e Disable switches and Voltage check points can also be spotted. The design is quite beefy and we can see several components scattered across the PCB so ASRock is making use of every inch of the space they can get.

For storage, the X99 OC Formula provides 10 SATA 6 GBps ports, two USB 3.0 header and two USB 2.0 headers. A Dual BIOS and Diagnostic LED can be found below the SATA ports. Expansion slots include 5 PCI-e 3.0 x16 slots which are provided extra power through a 4-Pin connector near the bottom of the board. The board supports both AMD CrossFire and NVIDIA SLI Multi-GPU functionality. There’s a PCI-e Ultra M.2 interface which provides 10 GB/s bandwidth for SSDs along with a standard mSATA port. Being a FATAL1TY motherboard, ASRock has also included their Purity Sound 2 design on the PCB which is isolated from the rest of the components and has a ALC1150 codec underneath the EMI shielding which is placed right next to another mPCIe port which can be used for WiFi and wireless connector cards. I/O on the motherboard includes 2 USB 2.0, 6 USB 3.0 ports, a PS/2 port, e-SATA port, Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and a 7.1 channel audio jack.

ASRock X99M Killer FATAL1TY Motherboard

ASRock X99M Killer FATAL1TYTo start off, the ASRock X99M Killer features the LGA 2011-3 socket supporting Intel’s upcoming line of Haswell-E high-end desktop processors which will be available to consumers along with the X99 chipset based motherboards on 29th August 2014. The X99 Killer series from ASRock is more of a gaming oriented lineup with features such as Killer LAN and LAG Free USB / PS2 ports. The LGA 2011-3 socket is powered by a single 8-Pin EPS connector while the 24-Pin board connector provides power to the rest of the electrical components.

The board features a 12 Phase PWM supply which is impressive for a M-ATX form factor motherboard. The LGA 2011-3 socket is surrounded by four DDR4 DIMM slots (two at each side) which are able to support DDR4 sticks with overclocked specs and capacity of 64 GB in total. Since this is a Killer seriesmotherboard, we also look at a red and black color scheme which looks quite nice. A Diagnostic LED can be spotted to the right side of the DIMM slots while the Power On/Off and Reset switches have been moved to the bottom side of the board below the PCH heatsink.

The X99M KIller FATAL1TY comes with three sets of heatsink, the top PWM heatsinks are interconnected via a heatpipe while the X99 PCH heatsink rests alone. Storage includes a total of ten SATA 6 GBps ports, a USB 3.0 header and two USB 2.0 headers. Expansion slots include three PCI-e 3.0 x 16 slots, the top one of the slots is really closer to the DDR4 DIMM slots so you might want to make sure that the PCB or materials of either one touches the other to cause malfunctions. a Dual USB design can be spotted right next to the CMOS battery and a little switch which enabled either one of the BIOS is spotted right next to it. The Expansion slots are provided additional power through a 4-Pin PEG connector at the bottom of the board. Features such as Killer E2200 LAN and Purity Sound 2 are featured with the audio being on its own isolated PCB. I/O panel includes 4 USB 2.0, 4 USB 3.0, 1 x eSATA, PS/2 port, a Gigabit Ethernet and a Killer E2200 powered LAN port along with a 7.1 channel audio jack.ASRock X99 Motherboards
