christmas countdown | doodlebug design

Hi friends!  Are you counting down the days until Christmas?  I sure am!  I created this fun little Santa plane to help us count down the days - and even though it's getting closer, it's not too late for YOU to create your own!

Christmas countdown project by @wendysue with the "Here Comes Santa Claus" collection and "Santa in Airplane" Silhouette Cut file for @DoodlebugDesign!

I used the "Santa in Airplane" Silhouette Cut File by Doodlebug Design to create this fun countdown calendar!

I love the idea of Santa flying around, watching the kids to make sure they are being NICE (not naughty) each day until Christmas arrives.

today,the card set…

Today is last day I get to share a project with you as an official “’fetti friend” as my term ends the last day of February.  I’ve really loved using the products from Reverse Confetti and hope I’ve inspired you to at least take a look at their website and blog

WendySAIntro

Most of my projects over the last couple of months have been Valentine’s Day or Love themed. Not this time! I wanted to create a more generic set of cards.  I really loved the bold “Today” stamp in the “Right Here, Right Now” set and decided to use it to create a set of “everyday” note cards.

I wanted the “TODAY” to really stand out, so I used bright red ink (Doodlebug’s “Ladybug” Red ink by Colorbox) on smooth white cardstock.  I embellished each card differently, but used die-cut shapes, cut with the “Square Tag” and “Documented” Dies by Reverse Confetti.  I chose papers and brads from the “Anything Goes” collection by Echo Park Paper Co.

Thanks for stopping by my blog TODAY – and thanks again to the nice folks at Reverse Confetti for inviting me to join them for a few months! :)

Speaking of “TODAY,” I’ve had the words to this hymn playing over and over in my mind since I started this project – so I thought I’d share the lyrics here:

Today, while the sun shines, work with a will;
Today all your duties with patience fulfill.
Today, while the birds sing, harbor no care;
Call life a good gift; call the world fair.

Today, today, work with a will;
Today, today, your duties fulfill.
Today, today, work while you may;
Prepare for tomorrow by working today.

Today seek the treasure better than gold,
The peace and the joy that are found in the fold.
Today seek the gems that shine in the heart;
While here we labor, choose the better part.

Today seek for goodness, virtue, and truth,
As crown of your life and the grace of your youth.
Today, while the heart beats, live to be true,
Constant and faithful all the way through.

Now…Go out and take advantage of TODAY – make it a great one!!!

reverse confetti | sketch for you to try…

Did you know that every month, there’s a new sketch for you to try (SFYTT) AND a fun contest on the Reverse Confetti blog?  Since I’m guest designing for them this month, I was able to get a sneak peek of this month’s sketch, and even give it a go already!

This is the fun Valentine’s Day card I created:

it’s reverse confetti “two ‘fer” time…

I just LOVE when I can get a “two ‘fer” – a two-for-one- deal…don’t you?  I especially love when I can use the “scraps” or left-overs from a project to create a second project!  This card set is a perfect example of just that!

wendysueanderson_love_card_set1

I created the focal point piece for two cards with one “quick card panel” from Reverse Confetti!  The cute “heart love” confetti cuts die made it possible!

wendysueanderson_love_card_set2

I simply cut the entire piece from the center of the quick card panel (pictured on the left side above).  I used the card panel and the “negative pieces from the die-cut image to piece back together the heart and “love” image.  I used foam adhesive squares to pop up the heart.  I just love how a little bit of dimension adds so much to a project!  I used patterned papers, stickers, and twine from Doodlebug design (links below) to complete this fun black and red card.

wendysueanderson_love_card2

For my second card, I used the white piece that I cut out of the card panel.  I replaced the itty bitty pieces in the center of the “l” and the “e” and that’s it!  I used patterned papers, a cute love-bug sticker, washi tape, and “sprinkles” from Doodlebug Design as well as a cute patterned paper from Pebbles Inc. to complete this cute card.

wendysueanderson_love_card1

Isn’t it fun to see how different these two cards look, even with the SAME piece used as the main element?  I love that!

Have you started creating YOUR Valentines yet?  Try creating a “two-fer” for yourself!!
