a post-thanksgiving project…

You all know how much I LOVE working with paper, but I was recently invited to try out a new type of crafty project, and I have to tell you, it was a LOT of fun!  I wanted to share my finished project with you – and then I’ll tell you a little bit about it.

The cute ruffled wreath hanging on my front door is the “Ruffled Harvest” wreath.  It came to me in the form of a super fun kit by a new company called Apostrophe-S. On a side-note…how fun is that name?  I wish I knew the story behind it…I bet it’s a good one!

Anyway, when my crafty friend, Megan, asked me if I’d like to give the kit a try, I was super excited to give it a go…it was shipped to me and arrived in plenty of time to create the project and have it ready to enjoy for Fall…which is likely what it’s intended for with a name like “Ruffled Harvest.”  Unfortunately, life got in the way and I didn’t get a chance to sit down and dive in…lucky for me, the soft felt in natural colors (and bonus - with pine cones too) works perfectly with some of my woodsy holiday décor – so yay for me…it’s ready to put out with my winter decorations!

Here’s what the kit looks like with all of the pieces (this image is from the Apostrophe-S website…but looks identical to my kit contents):

After watching the short instructional video (here), I spent about an hour pinning, gluing, and anticipating the finished project.

There’s a bit of excess glitter on the brown felt, I wasn’t as patient as I should have been when it was time to add my glittery pinecones – I was able to brush most of it off though.

The fun project is only one of many kits Apostrophe-S offers – you can find all of the details about the company and their products here.

8 questions, 1 answer…

One of the most common questions I am asked about my scrapbooking projects revolves around my hand-written journaling.  Over the last couple of days I’ve received a total of 8 e-mails with various versions of the same question.

It’s a simple one and it’s basically this:  “What’s your favorite pen to journal with?”

The answer is simple too.  American Crafts Precision Pen – black, .03.

I’ve been using the Precision Pens for years – probably over 10.  Ever since the first time I tried one – the .03 is my “go-to” size, but sometimes I use the .01 or the .05, depending on how much journaling I have to include and how much space I have. :)

And while I prefer black, they are also available in multi-colors!

As always, please let me know if you have any other questions about my projects! :)

washi, washi, washi | what I used…

Earlier this week I shared a blog post/tutorial over on shimelle.com

I’ve had several e-mail inquiries about the washi tapes I used on my layout.

I thought there might be more of you wondering about the sources for the tapes I used, so….here you go (click on the picture to purchase)!

Red Ruler, Blue Chevron, and Gears Washi Tape by Echo Park Paper Co.

Yellow Chevron Designer Tape by Bella Blvd.

Blueberry Gingham Washi Tape by Doodlebug Design

Bumblebee Swiss Dot Washi Tape by Doodlebug Design

Daily Flashback Washi Tape by KI Memories

Woodgrain Washi Tape by Freckled Fawn

And here’s the “wide” version of the same fun woodgrain tape:

Unfortunately, I can’t find a link to the green washi tape I used on my layout (it was from American Crafts), but this one is a close match:

That’s all of them!  Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

colorful snowflake garland…

Earlier this week it was my turn to share a fun project on the Doodlebug blog – I decided to share a fun little glittery snowflake garland I created for my home.

I added it to the top of this door – where we are adding Christmas cards one at a time as they arrive in our mailbox. I took these photos last week and our door is filling up with holiday greetings – I just love it and I love the pop of color at the top!

Here are links to some of the supplies I used to create my garland – and you can check out the post on the doodlebug blog for more info. as well. :)

And speaking of snowflakes, I wrote a blog post for the Two Peas blog that went live today – I shared lots of fun “snow” themed products.  Here are links to some of the products I shared!
