Problem
The human voice is lopsided. One side of the waveform usually peaks higher than the other, so a single tall spike sets your ceiling for the whole signal.
Everything else has room to spare, but that one side clips first. You lose loudness you never got to use, and your compressors and limiters work overtime to manage it. On speech, that wasted headroom can reach several dB.
Solution
Flip between A and B while it plays. You won't hear a difference, but watch how the peaks change.
BiteRotator straightens the waveform. It rotates the signal's phase until the peaks sit evenly around zero. The tall spike comes down, the loudness stays put, and the difference comes back to you as free headroom. LUFS and RMS read the same going in and coming out; only the shape changes.
Use Adaptive mode when you mix or render, and low-latency Fixed mode when you record or stream.
Adaptive adds 764 ms, which your DAW compensates for. Fixed adds just 13.6 ms, so you can record and stream through it live.
Where it sits in the chain
Put BiteRotator after phase-shifting processing:
- low-cut filters
- corrective EQ
- analog / console EQ emulations
and before anything that reacts to peaks:
- compressors
- limiters
- clippers
Everything downstream works less for the same loudness.

FAQ
Will I hear a difference?
For speech, no. It changes the shape of the waveform, not its loudness or its tone, so the voice sounds the same. What changes is that everything after it has an easier job.
Can I record or stream through it?
Not in Adaptive mode. It looks ahead about 764 ms, which your DAW compensates for in a mix but is too much to monitor through live. Use Fixed mode for that; it adds 13.6 ms.
When should I use Adaptive vs Fixed?
Use Adaptive when the asymmetry drifts across a take and you are mixing or rendering (it looks ahead 764 ms, which your DAW compensates for). Use Fixed when the voice is consistent, or when you need to track or monitor through it live, where its 13.6 ms is small enough to play through.
Does it work on music?
Two different questions live in that one. Is it safe on music? Yes, always. It is a phase rotation with no gain change, so it cannot distort or damage whatever you put it on. Is it built for music? No. It is voiced for mono dialogue and voice. Fixed mode is clean on anything, but Adaptive moves the filter over time, and on sustained, tonal material that movement can become audible, so save Adaptive for voice. Stereo tracks get one linked rotation across both channels, so the image stays intact.
How is this different from a limiter or clipper?
A limiter or clipper lowers your peaks by pulling gain down or shaving the top off the waveform. That gets the peak down, but it changes the tone and can add distortion. BiteRotator lowers the peak by rotating phase instead, so the loudness and the tone are exactly what went in. No gain riding, no shaving, no color. It is not a louder or a cleaner limiter, it is a different thing that runs before one.
I already use a leveler or limiter. Do I need this?
They stack. BiteRotator lowers your peaks before any of them see the signal, so your leveler, compressor, and limiter work less to hit the same target. Usually that means a more transparent result, not a redundant one.
Why can the headroom number go negative in Fixed mode?
A badly chosen angle can genuinely make peaks worse. The meter is honest and the scope will show it, so nudge the knob or let Adaptive pick the angle for you.
How does licensing work?
One license covers 3 machines, and you move them yourself, no support ticket. Checkout and VAT are handled by Moonbase. Re-validation is silent and offline-tolerant: a dropped connection inside the 14-day grace window never interrupts audio. On Linux, activation needs libcurl installed, which desktop distros ship by default.
