Linnaea Shawl

Happy July! It's time for another year of Jyväskylä Knit Fest. For the first time, I'm not teaching but I do have a new design to celebrate:

Linnaea Shawl

This shawl is designed in collaboration with Aara Yarns. Aara is a new adventure for my friends Jonna and Laura. I'm so happy to be one of the very first ones to get to try out these yarns and I'm in love!

LINNAEA SHAWL

Linnaea shawl is a lovely half-pi shawl with texture interest and wonderful three colors. This easy construction creates a wonderfully wearable shawl that you can either wrap around your neck or just wear over the shoulders. There is no lace in this one, only a lot of easy brioche and some garter stitch! Find your perfect color trio and cast on!

The shawl is designed in collaboration with Aara Yarns.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 3 skeins of Lempi by Aara Yarn (100% Merino; 400 yards (365 meters) / 100g). Approx. 1200 yards (1095 meters) of fingering weight yarn; approx. 400 yards (365 meters) of each MC, CC1 and CC2. The sample was knit in colorways Ilta (MC, pink), Säde (CC1, yellow) and Jalo (CC2, purple).
Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle, 32” (80 cm) long or longer.
Other: Tapestry needle and blocking aids.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Approx. 66” (168 cm) wingspan and 26” (66 cm) deep at deepest spot.

Riverway

More new knits! This one is very Spring-like, both in color and in delicate lace  - but I feel that my thoughts turn right to the Spring and upcoming Summer when the lovely light of late January and early February reflects from all the snow!

The Riverway cardigan was originally designed for Neighborhood Fiber Co.’s Outerloop Sweater Club in 2018!

Riverway

Flowing lace motifs make this light layering piece the key element in your wardrobe! Riverway Cardigan is both stylish and classy, with easy-going feminine shaping. The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down.

The lovely blush pink colorway and the luxurious yarn make this even more perfect – a true go-to layering piece for many seasons to come.

Yarn: 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4) skeins of Capital Luxury Lace by Neighborhood Fiber Co. (80% Wool, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon; 560 yards (512 meters) / 114g). Approx. 1200 (1300, 1410, 1520, 1640, 1770, 1900) yards / 1100 (1190, 1290, 1390, 1500, 1620, 1740) meters of heavy lace weight yarn. The sample was knit in colorway Victorian Village and in size medium.

Finished chest circumference: 34 (38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58)” / 85 (95, 105, 115, 125, 135, 145) cm. Choose a size with approx. 2” (5 cm) of positive ease.

Interpretations 4

Can't believe that it's the time again! For the fourth time, me and my knitter sister Joji, can finally share with you the result of our yearly collaboration! Here is -

Interpretations Vol. 4

You all know the drill by now! We chose six words, themes, for the collection, with two designs for each theme: our personal interpretation of the word. This time we chose the following words: Gather, Chromatic, Magic, Fragile, Direction and Hidden. More details on the website or on Ravelry!

Travelling has always been a big part of the photos, and because we are living on opposite sides of the world it's also a must! This time we returned to Finland for the second time.

Again we had the pleasure to work with the most wonderful photographer and dear friend! Jonna, I know I'm again repeating myself here (for fourth time probably), but you truly can see magic through the lens of your camera, you catch the things I never thought anyone can see! We are so grateful!

Also, there is a print option for the collection available from Pom Pom Press. We are so happy about this!

Summer Shawls

Oh, summer! Always the time of the year that surprises me the most! And generally because days and weeks seem to go past so very quickly...

But summer is also perfect for some easy shawl knitting - preferably with some short rows, garter stitch and stripes! That's why I thought today would be a perfect day to publish some of the shawl patterns that were initially designed for collaborations!

So here we go - three new(ish) shawls to spice up your shawl knitting!

Aquatic

The shawl was designed for Sundara Yarn, for The Petals Collection 2015 - The Cashmere Edition Yarn Club.

It’s like shining sea foam green, as deep as the ocean, when you unfold this shawl, like a buried treasure, so soft and shiny, just like a pearl.

Long and quite narrow crescent shape is asymmetric, making this shawl ideal for many shapes and sizes; also the possibilities to wear this shawl are almost endless.

Finished measurements
: 102” (260 cm) wingspan and 19” (48 cm) at deepest point.

---

The Other One

Designed as a Mystery Shawl Club 2015 collaboration with TitiTyy!

Stitch by stitch a mystery will reveal itself, like a hidden treasure, keeping some secrets almost all the way to the end. But do not fear, it’s still perfect comfort knitting with stripes and garter stitch and some extra spices.

The deep and big semi-circular shape of the shawl is asymmetric, making this shawl a treat to knit and to wear.

Finished measurements: 71” (180 cm) wingspan and 23” (58 cm) at deepest point.

---

Hazy Waves

This shawl was designed for Jyväskylä Summer Knit Festival 15.–17.7.2016!

A little bit of stripes and a little bit of short rows with some easy patterning make this pretty summer shawl! Two skeins of lovely single-ply and a pair of needles and you are good to go. This shawl is designed for easy breezy yet fun knitting – but most importantly the shawl is great to wear and with the color possibilities only the sky is the limit.

Finished measurements:
82” (208 cm) wingspan and 19” (48 cm) deepest deepest point.

Happy shawl knitting!

Travelling has always been a big part of the photos, and that saga too continues in the third volume! This time we took the pictures in magical town of Potsdam, in Germany.
Again we had the privilege to work with the most wonderful photographer and friend! Jonna, I know I'm repeating myself here, but you truly can see magical things through the lens of your camera, things I never thought existed!
