Valve 即将在年底发售的掌机 Steam Deck 运行的是定制的 Linux 发行版 SteamOS， 而这个发行版是基于 Arch Linux。早期版本的 SteamOS 是基于 Debian Linux，但 Steam Deck 运行的 SteamOS 3.0 弃用 Debian 改用 Arch。Debian 和 Arch 两大发行版的理念是完全相反的，Debian 采用保守的方法为用户提供最大程度的稳定性，而 Arch Linux 是一个滚动更新发行版，没有稳定版本。Arch 会尽可能快的更新所有组件，这种更新频率偶尔会造成兼容性问题，但这种问题都在预期之中会。Valve 设计师 Lawrence Yang 称，切换到 Arch 的主要理由是滚动更新能更好的支持 SteamOS 3.0 的快速迭代，满足 Valve 为 Steam Deck 提供最佳游戏体验的需要。为了能让玩家游戏库中的游戏都能在 Linux 上正常运行，Valve 需要能持续的提供定制调整和定制集成的最新软件版本，而这恰好是 Arch 的强项。

最大的代码托管平台 GitHub 在 13 日周五这天 正式废除了基于密码的 Git 身份验证。从 09:00 PST 开始，使用 GitHub 开发者将需要切换到基于令牌的身份验证去执行 Git 操作，基于令牌的认证包括个人接入、OAuth、SSH Key 活 GitHub App 安装令牌。
