马斯克 (Elon Musk) 的 AI 创业公司 xAI 于上周日开源了其 AI 聊天机器人 Grok，源代码采用 Apache License 2.0 托管在 GitHub 上。xAI 是 OpenAI 聊天机器人 ChatGPT 的竞争对手，于去年底发布，其特性包括能访问实时信息以及其观点不受“政治正确”规范的限制。Grok 是付费服务，X/Twitter 用户需要每月支付 16 美元才能访问该服务。马斯克正在起诉 OpenAI 及其首席执行官奥尔特曼（Sam Altman），理由包括该公司为了利润停止共享其 AI 技术。xAI 开源 Grok 被认为一个目的是反衬出 OpenAI 的闭源。Grok 有 3140 亿个参数，测试模型需要 GPU 有足够大的显存。

许多重要的科学问题——从纳米尺度的材料建模到大规模的气候科学——都可用复杂的方程探索。然而今天的数字计算系统在速度、能耗和基础设施方面已达到了执行这些计算的极限。根据发表在《科学》上的一项研究，研究人员证明，忆阻器模拟计算设备可以完成复杂的科学计算任务，同时绕过数字计算的限制。忆阻器是存储器和电阻的结合体。忆阻器控制电路中的电流流动，同时即使在电源关闭时也能“记住”先前的状态，这与今天基于晶体管的计算机芯片不同，后者只能在有电时保存信息。当组织成交叉棒阵列时，记忆电路通过大规模并行方式使用物理定律进行模拟计算，大大加速了矩阵运算，这是神经网络中最常用但非常耗电的计算。

Web 2.0 时代前的 2004 年，BitTorrent 流量曾占到整个互联网流量的 35%。当时 P2P 文件共享是主要的流量来源。20 年后的今天，视频串流服务如 YouTube、Netflix 和 TikTok 杀死了昔日的流量之王。即使是盗版视频网站，BitTorrent 也不再是主流，大部分盗版视频网站也是基于串流。BitTorrent 协议的一大功能是上传，过去十年它在互联网上行流量中仍然占据不小的份额，2013 年占到了所有上行流量的三分之一，但 2021 年降至了 10%。加拿大宽带管理公司 Sandvine 本周公布的报告显示，BitTorrent 在几乎所有类别中都不占优。视频和社交媒体是下行流量的主要驱动力，BitTorrent 在上行流量中占 4%，被云存储应用、FaceTime、Google 和 YouTube 超越。今天的 BitTorrent 流量是由少数做种共享文件的用户产生的。

荷兰阿姆斯特丹大学的研究人员报告，他们利用 CRISPR 基因编辑技术，成功的从受感染细胞中消除了 HIV 病毒。HIV 治疗的重大挑战之一是该病毒具有将自身基因组整合到宿主 DNA 中的能力，尽管目前有多种有效的抗病毒药物用于治疗 HIV 感染，但只能抑制 HIV 在人体内的复制，无法将其清除，故患者需要接受终身抗病毒治疗，因为一旦抗病毒治疗停止，HIV 可能会卷土重来。HIV 可以感染体内不同类型的细胞和组织，每种细胞和组织都有其独特的环境和特征。在这项研究中，荷兰研究人员使用“分子剪刀”与两种 gRNA（向导 RNA） 来对抗所有已知的 HIV 毒株中保持相同的病毒基因组部分，并成功治愈了 HIV 感染者的 T 细胞。荷兰研究人员证明，当在培养皿中的免疫细胞上进行测试时，他们的 CRISPR 系统可以灭活所有 HIV 病毒，将其从免疫细胞中清除。研究人员强调他们的工作仍然只是“概念证明”，不会很快成为 HIV 的治疗方法。
