So here it is! It's been a long time coming but finally the Shrine of Rigg exists! And has paint on it! And we played a game with it!

Frog on your Throat!
Ah, finally some new material - with some old thrown in for good measure!
Here is my Round 9 entry to the LPL - the Slann wizard on his Palanquin, borne aloft by lobotomised slaves. This mini has been on the hit list for some time and you may remember a rather jubilant post a while back when I finally got my hands on it.

Meet the Stoutbacks
While we're on matters of a Nordic nature - Fresh from the field of battle that is the Lead Painter's League over on the LAF are the Stoutbacks. Unfortunately these noble Norse warriors didn't win against the rather fine Norman knights (well done Rob should you be reading this!) they were pitted against but no matter - I have the full set and they are painted!

Cold Comfort...
Howdy folks and apologies for a rather quiet November on the painting front. Unfortunately work has rather dominated things and sapped all energy and motivation - 11 hour days haven't exactly been conducive for spending a few happy hours of quiet concentration in the evening...
But enough of my woes - at least I've had the joy of playing an exciting game of 3rd ed. remotely. Turn 2 is up and once more brought brilliantly to life by the inimitable Gaj!
In fact my lengthy tactical considerations and increasingly desperate attempts to woo the Dice Gods, who for some reason seem rather displeased with me, have also contributed somewhat to the dearth of progress on my Slann Cold One Riders.
However, I can take comfort in the fact that I'm back in the swing of things and the labour of love that these frog men and their stinky mounts have become is finished - apart from some jungly bits to add to the bases at some point in the future...

A Miniature world in Miniature...
Just received a very nice parcel today from fellow Old Hammerite, Skarsnik and Old Lead, of Opponent Finder and Citadel Giant fame. Bumped into him over on the LAF flogging a few bits and pieces and was most interested in the Warmaster stuff he had going. One very good deal later (thanks again mate!) and I was the proud owner of this little lot - apart from the rule book which I acquired a while back and has made interesting bedtime reading for the past week or two.

Fimir very much...
Before any of you get excited - I haven't got my hands on any vintage fimir, much as I'd like to...
Oh and the post title only works if you say it in a really bad Elvis impression!
Instead I'll leave such Demon-worshipping shenanigans to a certain Mr Saturday who, if you haven't been aware of his excellent work, has been raising an army of the evil cyclopeans through some brilliant modelling and conversion work.
You can gaze in wonderment here - http://mrsaturdaysmumblings.blogspot.co.uk/
Anyway this post is by way of a big thankyou to Mr Saturday for the extrememly kind gesture of donating this fine Slann warrior to my Lustrian project - can you think of a more selfless act a retro-citadel leadhead could perform?!
So by way of saying thanks I thought I'd shamelessly steal the lovely colour scheme he has conjured up for his Fimir and use it to create a little tribute here.

An Army of Frogs...
... Which is what a group of frogs is acually called, if you believe the interwebz. And for all of you now turning your thoughts to what a group of toads is referred to - I can reveal it is a knot of toads.
Well now today's lesson is concluded here's the pics - nothing new I'm afraid, just some more detail shots of all the Slann I've got painted up so far.

Slaving away...
Another LPL entry and another addition to the Slann forces for Return of the Magnificent Sven.
This time we have a sinister albino Slann slavemaster and four of his unfortunate lobotomised charges, along with a couple more Slann braves armed with blowpipes.
As the warband is meant to represent the remnants of Gurg'll Greenwake's gang of renegades and survivors of various tribes, I've continued with the varied skin tones and patterns - plus they're more fun to paint that way!

A new Slann-t on things...
Morning all - long time no see so apologies for that first of all! I'm afraid the usual culprits of work, life and all that have conspired to keep me from my duties here. That and entering the 6th Lead Painter's League on the LAF as well...
For those of you who may have been following (avidly hopefully!) my Orc's Drift project - don't worry! I haven't forgotten entirely about it. Unfortunately I didn't get round to re-photographng the final scenario before the LPL started and it has been monopolising my hobby time since. I do, however, have a couple of weeks of holidays coming up the week after next, so keep your eyes peeled!
To show that I haven't just been lazing around watching crap telly and genarally doing nothing constructive with my life this past month here's a few pics of my LPL entries. Well the Slann one anyway.
As I have to paint a new team of at least five minis each week for the competition I thought I may as well use this to my advantage and get on with some of the units for my next big project. Return of the Magnificent Sven! In the coming weeks I hope to add more Slann, Amazons and Norse berserkers (including the original Karl Ustracutter mini that I finally got my hands on!) to my pile of painted minis. Not forgetting lots of big, nasty jungle-type creepy crawlies...
