Hello stranger, and congratulations on finding this page. You were either looking for me on purpose or you clicked something you should not have. Either way, sit down, the eyes on the wallpaper already know you are here.
I am Pablo, born in Soledade de Minas, a town so small that when a new person showed up everybody assumed the circus was back. As a kid I had one hobby: taking apart every electronic device in the house to see how it worked. Spoiler, most of them did not work again afterwards. My parents were very patient. Or very tired. Possibly both.
In 1997 a beautiful beige box called a Pentium MMX entered my life and ruined it forever, in the best way. I taught myself Delphi and started writing tiny programs on Windows 95, back when the internet in Brazil arrived one dial tone at a time and reading a book was still the main cheat code for knowledge.
For a while I genuinely wanted to become a Catholic priest. Then I wanted to become a film director, because I fell hard for cinema and photography and decided I would clearly win an Oscar any day now. Neither happened, but all that reading, all those movies, and a dangerous amount of overthinking quietly turned into who I am.
Around the early 2000s the coin finally dropped: my curiosity, my logic and my need to make things all pointed at one thing, programming. A former Microsoft engineer took me under his wing for a year and handed me Python 2.0, a language that has followed me around like a loyal cat ever since.
Now for the honest part. I was a terrible student. Not dumb, just permanently somewhere else inside my own head. I failed a year of high school, which felt like the end of the world, so I joined an accelerated program, threw myself at the ITA prep track in São José dos Campos, and somehow got into several law schools. I picked the one closest to home, because ambition is great but so is sleeping in your own bed.
I graduated near the top of my class and then did the most Pablo thing possible: I never took the bar exam and walked away from law entirely. The gap between what the ethics books promised and what actually happened out there just did not sit right with me.
So I did what any reasonable disillusioned law graduate does. I took a year off and wandered the planet. I ended up in Russia, learned to speak Russian, almost got married, and came back a very different person with a much better tolerance for cold weather and cold soup.
Back in Brazil I tried a handful of ventures that flopped with great enthusiasm. Then I teamed up with my mother, a freshly retired teacher, and together we built Portal IDEA, an education model designed to be affordable and free of pointless bureaucracy. It grew. Then it grew some more. Today its platform and methodology sit among the top 10 in the world in the education sector, which still feels like a typo every time I read it.
