Heart shaped card

Lsst week my sister-in-law and brother-in-law celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary and this is the card I made for them.  I decided to make a heart shaped card (for obvious reasons) although I did have to straighten the point a little to enable the card to stand up.

close up of the card:

I also made an envelope to match:

I began by die cutting 2 large hearts and scored one heart about half an inch from the top and glued the 2 hearts together.  I decided to go for a one-layer card so stamped the cute hedgie image and then masked them off so that I could stencil some clouds behind them and also stamp some random hearts (I was following last week's MFT sketch 504 challenge but left it too late to enter!!).  I coloured the image with Promarkers.  I added a large sentiment across the middle of the card and then added 'sister' and 'brother-in-law' to the balloons.  I think it turned out really cute and something a little different.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Penny Black Saturday challenge - anything goes (option fave colours)
Sweet Stampin' challenge - anything but a birthday card
Allsorts challenge - hand coloured image
Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge - use your favourite stamp (for love/anniversary cards this is my go-to stamp)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - stamp it in Stamptember
Simon Says Stamp IG challenge - put a stamp on it

I hope that returning to school/college went well for all your children (and teachers in the family).  Although the number of cases is increasing, thankfully the deaths are remaining low so let's hope that the second spike doesn't happen.  My son is working from home and has only left the house once since lockdown and he is still really nervous about going out.  I think it's the fear of the unknown as well isn't it.

I hope you all have a great week and continue to stay safe and well.

Card ingredients:
Penny Black - hedgehog kisses
Promarkers
MFT - make a wish (for the hearts)
Distress oxide ink - tumbled glass
Heffy Doodle - everyday sentiment duos (for anniversary sentiment)
Clearly Besotted stamps - friends & family
Inkadinkado - stamping mask paper
Distress ink mini - barn door (for hearts)

Charisma Cardz challenge #24

This is my entry for this week's charisma cardz challenge, which is 'diamonds are a girls best friend'. Firstly I apologise for the appalling picture but I took it at night and couldn't edit it any better. I stamped the inkadinkado image and coloured it with my promarkers. The brown and red dp is doodlebug and the dotty dp is a freebie from a craft magazine. The scalloped edge was cut with fiskars decorative scissors and the sentiment was created on the pc. The pin was from ebay and the bow is from create and craft. The adhesive stones are PM.

Cupcake craft challenge - one layer!

Well here we are, week two as a designer for the cupcake craft challenge. This week we were challenged to create a card with only one layer! Now as you know I love my dp and cs so this was really hard for me (in fact I left it until the very last day to make lol)!! Now we were allowed to use one piece of dp as well as the card base but I decided to simply use the card base as my one layer. I stamped my new (well new to me) gorjuss girl image by sugar nellie and coloured her with my pro-markers. I then framed my image by stamping the floral swirl image by inkadinkadoo all around the edge of the card. I coloured the flower heads and leaves with pro-markers and inked the edge of the card with a light brown cat's eye chalk ink pad. I also smudged some of the same ink over the frame for an aged look. Finally I added stickles to the flowers, leaves and the heart in the girl's hair. I did umm and ahh about adding embellishments but I liked the simplistic look of the card so left it as it was. I am really happy with how this card turned out and think maybe I should make more in the same style, what do you think? I would love to see your one-layer creations so if you have time why not join in with the challenge. Thanks for stopping by.

LOTV #18/Pollycraft challenge #9

This is my card for this week's lily of the valley challenge, which is a sketch and the pollycraft challenge, which is 'pink' (and my card is VERY pink!). I printed off the download from pollycraft and coloured it with my pro-markers. The dp is a freebie from a craft magazine and the cs is from the papermill shop. The flourish stamp is by inkadinkado and the ribbon is from my stash. The adhesive stones are PM and the sentiment is stampendous. Thanks for looking.

Sketch Saturday #34

This is my card for this week's sketch saturday challenge. I made this card to give to my parents for their anniversary, which was earlier in the week. I stamped the really cute image by inkadinkado and coloured it with my pro-markers. The large panel of dp is by imagination project, the green dp is by doodlebug and the orange floral dp is by SU. The flowers are from my stash and the gems are from the papermill shop. The sticky ribbon is Anita's. The decorative edge on the orange dp was done with the fiskars threading water paper punch. Thanks for looking.

Crafty Muse Challenge

The crafty muse challenge this week is 'boys will be boys' so I thought this card was ideal. I stamped the inkadinkado image, but the original image had a football and I needed a rugby ball, so I stamped a single See D's rugby ball and stuck it over the top. Doesn't look too bad does it? I coloured the image with my pro-markers and used my pc for the sentiment. The dp by buzzcraft was cut into strips and laid over cs from the papermill shop. I used my dovecraft star punch to cut out the stars. A nice simple card, but I think that is what most men like anyway. Thanks for looking.

Sad cards to make

Unfortunately I've had to make several sympathy cards over the last week or so and it always seems much more difficult at this time of year. My neighbour's brother (who was in his 40's) died last week and this was the card I made to show I was thinking of her. The image is by inkadinkado and it's a very simple image as it needs no embellishing, it is just beautiful as it is. I used 'lace' dp by Joanna Sheen and plain cs from the papermill shop. The pearls are by craftybitz and the organza ribbon is from my stash. Thanks for looking.

Image folder

I made some image folders to send out to a few fellow crafters. It's a terrible photo as it was difficult to get it to stand up properly. I used an A4 piece of cardstock and scored it into three. I punched the edge of the top panel with my fiskars threading water punch. I covered the top and bottom panels with dp by kaiser crafts. I stamped the inkadinkado image and I punched the image out with my marvy oval paper punch and coloured it with my pro-markers. The sentiment is by hero arts. I didn't take a photo of the inside but I concertina'd (not sure if that is a word) some of the same cs to make the folder slightly fuller and added a hook and loop fastener. Not sure if this all makes sense but drop me a line if you need more info. Thanks for looking.

Get well

I made this card for a lady at work. Her mother has been in hospital and she wanted to send her a card. I stamped the inkadinkado image and coloured it with my pro-markers adding a little stickles to the flower. The double sided dp was part of the gorgeous blog candy I won from Han and it's all by Kaiser Craft. I stamped a piece of the plain sided dp with a matching background stamp by inkadinkado. The sentiment was done on my pc. I punched a few small flowers and added adhesive gems by papermania. A really pretty card IRL. Thanks for looking.

OCC challenge

I had to make a sympathy card so I used the OCC challenge (which this week was a sketch). I stamped the inkadinkado image with versafine onyx black ink. The lovely swirly dp is by doodlebug and the black cs is bazzill bling. The plain blue cs is from the papermill shop . I used adhesive stones by papermania and the sentiment is by PSX. I never like making these cards but I always try to make the best card I can to let the family know I am thinking of them dearly. Apologies for the 'lop-sided' photo (the card is straight IRL - honest!). Thanks for looking.

Deepest sympathy

I made this card for my mum to give to a neighbour who's husband recently passed away. I simply stamped the inkadinkado image with versafine onyx ink and added a few adhesive stones by papermania. The double sided dp is by chatterbox inc and used both sides for contrast. The ribbon is by american crafts and the sentiment stamp is by PSX. The card looks a little drab on the computer but it was much nicer IRL! Thanks for looking.

Cards we don't like to make!

These are cards that we don't like to make but unfortunately they are the ones that we seem to need the most. I was asked to make this card by a colleague at work. I stamped the inkadinkado image with versafine onyx black ink and did the same with the PSX sentiment. I cut them out and inked the edges for definition. The gorgeous dp by chatterbox inc. was double sided, so I used both sides so that they would match perfectly. I used the one side as the main backing on my card and then the other side I cut into three panels and mounted them at intervals on my backing paper. I again inked all the edges for definition with a cat's eye chalk ink pad. I added papermania adhesive stones to the edges of my stamped image panels and also to the centre of the cross. Thanks for looking.

Cards we don't like to make

None of us like making sympathy cards but unfortunately we do from time to time. A colleague at work has lost his mother so I was asked to make a card. I'd seen a stunning card on Nancy's blog at http://www.papersmiles.blogspot.com, which by the way she has so many. My card didn't turn out exactly like hers but it was along the same lines. I stamped the cross image by inkadinkado with black onyx versacolor ink. I used a piece of silver mirri card and ran it through my cuttlebug using the divine swirls embossing folder. I matted this with plain blue and white cs from the papermill shop. The ribbons I used were from my stash. I also added a few papermania adhesive stones. I'm really pleased with this card, even though it is for a really sad occasion. Thanks for looking.

Taylored expressions cupcake challenge #23

I was asked to make an anniversary card by a work colleague of my DH's for him to give to his wife. I liked the look of the sketch that Taylor had as her challenge last week so decided to use that for this card. I used a cute Inkadinkado image and coloured it with pencils. The dp is by MOD and the plain green cs is from the papermill shop. I used my pc for the sentiment, a marvy punch for the hearts and papermania adhesive stones on top of the hearts. Thanks for looking.
