I bought this album expecting doom, got an album full of eclectic heavy rock that is closer to American bands like Mastodon than British Doom ala Cathedral. Still, the vocals are absolutely gorgeous, the production is lush and punchy, the melodies ebb and flow. This album is a like a warm blanket on a cold winter's evening. And yes, there are nods to that classic British doom sound dispersed throughout the album. Not quite what I had expected, but a fantastic album nonetheless.

As a few others have pointed out here, this album has a lot of old school doom metal flavor in its crushing, heavy guitar work (early Sabbath, Pentagram, Trouble, etc.). Add some swords & sorcery flair and you've got something special. While not as bombastic or epic as the likes of Candlemass or Smoulder, this tickles the brain of those who enjoy that old school late 70s/early 80s metal sound.
