My favorite of the Norwegian Black Metal bands. Immortal never really fell into the same lyrical trap that most black metal bands do, they came up with a much more creative approach. The band bases their lyrics on a mythical real of Blashyrkh. A world of cold isolation filled with demons and war. The realm is completely of Immortal's own imagination, and very in depth. The bands music style is very reminiscent of thrash metal. Vocalist Abbath has a very distinct delivery, he is some times called the Popeye of Black Metal, because of his very recognizable voice.
