JustDave's Notes:
Not Sure If This One Originally Was Done By Draftervoi But I Think It May Be.

Original Notes:
Sourced from pre-FM double compact disc of Westwood One Superstar Concert Series SS # 97-30. Also included is a short broadcast promo.

This is the sourced from the 97-30 broadcast Pre-FM, but is not the complete show. It is missing several songs including "I Was Brought To My Senses", "Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot", "Seven Days", "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying", and "Fragile". The 96-37 Pre-FM is the complete show but the only version I've seen of that seems to be lossy. Could be that 96-37 was actually broadcast from a lossy source. The bootleg "Perfect Night In Houston" may be sourced from 96-37, and - no surprise - is lossy too. This 97-30 Pre-FM is actually lossless. I imported the original tracks from drccds into Audacity and removed the commercials, and tracked everything to split up the songs. I kept the J.J. Jackson speaking parts.

Total Playing Time: 5hr 47mn 13sc

justdave's notes:
I used Goldwave to convert the MPEG4 to a Wave 16bit/44,1khz. I then used Goldwave to edit the tracks. No noise reduction, EQ, or remastering was done to the recording. The video had lossy audio so it was encoded to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper. I edited the show as it was broadcast, a continuous 5 hour broadcast. If you want to burn CDs you will have to find the right spots to edit your CD1, CD2 etc.

Taylor Hawkins, drummer for The Foo Fighters, died March 25, 2022. Early toxicology reports suggest that a drug overdose may be the cause, but no official ruling has been made as of this date. The band was scheduled to play the Estéreo Picnic Festival in Bogotá, Colombia but had to cancel. The stage was turned into a candle light vigil.

This recording is from show 1 of 2 shows planned to honor Taylor. The 2nd was on September 27 in Los Angeles, California. It's a great show with a lot of different performers, some legendary, some not quite there but on their way. Check out Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age/Kyuss/Them Crooked Vultures fame singing David Bowie's "Let's Dance" and Sir Elton John's "Good-bye Yellow Brick Road" and nail it! Chevy Metal & Ke$ha deliver a great version of T. Rex's "Children Of The Revolution". Brian Johnson & Lars Ulrich jam out some AC/DC classics. Geddy Lee & Alex Lifeson using 2 different drummers to pull off some Rush tracks. Sir Paul McCartney steps up with Chrisse Hynde and deliver some Beatles while Brian May and Roger Taylor give us a bit of Queen.

I hope everyone enjoys this, it took a lot of work to get it together. Not sure if there are any other audio rips of this show out yet. T.U.B.E. offers the MPEG4 that I made the audio rip from, it's actually where I downloaded it. It's kind of a big file set, so It has been separated into 2 parts which can be opened separately.

A nice recording from The Police on their Ghost in the Machine Tour which ran from October 1, 1981 to September 6, 1982. I am a Stanley Clarke fanatic, love his playing. He's the kind of bass player that makes others lay down their instrument and bow. Just to watch him play is amazing. The way he holds his hand looks like he's making duck shadow puppets not playing bass. The most amazing sounds come from that duck shadow puppet plucking hand. When you have Mother Pluckers like Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Les Claypool, Flea, and Bootsy Collins calling you an influence, you are good at what you do. Anyway I digress a lot. Combine the Legendary Stanley Clarke with the very talented, criminally underrated drummer from The Police Stewart Copeland with 2 young highly talented young players, what do you get? A hell of a concert that's what! A lot of Rockers want to try playing Jazz. A lot of them do try it. A lot of them suck at it. The 3 members of The Police have all stretched out in Jazz. All 3 of them, according to the shows I possess, have done it very well. Sure it's Stanley Clarke playing another solo in the middle of "No Mystery". Every other performance on this tape is just as good!

This is a Hans De Vente recording as edited by justdave.

justdave's notes:
Han's uploaded this recording as 2 long files, one per tape side. I decoded the files with Traders Little Helper and separated the tracks with Goldwave v6.15. The files were encoded at a 24 bit rate and have been left that way. I did not remix or remaster the recording in any way. The track "The Bed's Too Big Without You" is divided into 2 parts due to a tape flip from side A to side B. The transition between "Roxanne" and "Can't Stand Losing You" was a little rough where Han's paused the tape to save space, I tried to soften that. The transition between "Can't Stand Losing You" and "Next To You" also had a pause that I softened.

This is a rather large file set so I divided the flac into two parts. You need both parts to unzip.

justdave's notes:
This is the latest addition to my Don Kirshner's Rock Concert DVD collection. The DVD is made from a pre-broadcast source. The audio was pretty good but I brought the high end up a little, as it was hard to hear Stewart Copeland's high hat, which is an essential part of the bands sound. As to the performance, the band plays around with some of the arrangements to great effect. Sting's soaring vocals are a little road weary but still sound good. I must admit I missed this performance when it originally aired so to have it now is pretty freakin' cool!
