I received this in shn but converted it to flac. It's always traded/posted as a soundboard recording but listening reveals it to be an excellent audience recording.

Rosebud is a big fan of Queensrÿche, she has a big collection of bootlegs from them as well as everything they released...that is up till the split with Geoff Tate. We both stopped supporting the band after that. At any rate...Rosebud usually grades her Queensrÿche shows on how well Geoff Tate does the scream in "Take Hold Of The Flame". She rates this one very highly since he pulls the scream off pretty well. For me this is the best era off the band, since it was the most blatantly Heavy Metal era. The band actually became a Progressive Metal Force To Be Reckoned With, but the Queensrÿche E.P. and the Warning album were released right as I was 18 out of school and owned my first real hot rod a 1972 Chevy Chevelle Malibu and those 2 records were blasted real loud through those speakers quite a lot.

This Rocking little tape was Rosebud's introduction to Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson and the Mott The Hoople Legacy...I must be slipping and I apologized to her, Rosebud has some catching up so she is now learning about all that legendary music. I tell you as much as I love Southern Rock, I did not know Mick Ronson played on Pure Prairie League's Bustin' Out. He even did string arrangements for the album. I knew he had played with Lou Reed, Bob Dylan & Elton John but did not know he produced Morrissey's Your Arsenal.

The tape is a little aged but a damn nice listen if you ask me.

Phil Spalding died February 5, 2023, he was 65.

With Yes, Asia and solo albums you would think that Steve Howe had enough to keep him busy in the 1980s. Turns out he didn't, neither did Steve Hackett after leaving Genesis for a solo career. So what do you do, get a drummer, bassist and singer you already have 2 fantastic guitarists. I remember listening to an interview with the 2 Steves when they said they wanted to find a singer that could give the band an American sound. To do that they hire the British former lead vocalist of Bronz (the guy could hit some freakishly high notes in his day!). I guess they meant American sounding in the Styx, Journey kinda vibe. They tapped Marillion's former drummer Jonathan Mover and bassist Phil Spalding who's Prog-Rock cred was from playing with Mike Oldfield. Of course Steve Howe missed his Asia & Yes mates so Geoff Downes was brought in to produce. I bought the album after hearing "When the Heart Rules the Mind" and I love it, still play it am listening to it right now as I type this. The group failed to make a follow up album and the members went back to their other jobs.

The show is great performance wise but the tape suffers from his, radio background noise and simple age. Now that said do not be afraid to check this show out, it's still very listenable and enjoyable!!

Henry Rollins is one of my favorite performers, so much passion in every movement and syllable. I never saw him with Black Flag (had my own gig when they played their last show here in Detroit so..). I've seen him a couple times with The Rollins Band and was just blown away (too bad he's now retired from music!). The man could be intimidating when seen from the front row of a club.

I downloaded this recording from a nice blog called The Luxor Dream run by a person named Titus. I do believe he made the cover art as well. Titus has been around a while and has a nice variety of recordings to share. I recommend visiting.

What a great sounding recording for being made in 1974. I love listening to Ann Haslam sing, she has such a beautiful voice. I downloaded this recording in flac but when I tested the files to see if they were lossy it came back as MPEG 100%. I encoded the files to MP3 320kbps because I don't usually post a flac set if I know it's lossy. The only exception I usually make is if it's a recording from Satellite Radio. Satellite Radio actually broadcasts at a lossy rate, usually 256-320kbps. The only reason I make this exception is because you will never get a true lossless Satellite Radio recording. However now we seem to have more and more bootleg record labels releasing lossy CDs. Some reasons are they are recording them from lossy digital broadcast services, they are downloading them from bootleg web sites that host in MP3, or some of the modern noise reduction techniques/programs kill high end to reduce noise. Now I sit and think before deciding to not post it in flac. I still don't but I think about it. So if you get a lossy flac from me I most likely didn't test it. I actually don't always take the time to. At any rate enjoy this nice recording!

I personally can not get enough Boz Scaggs bootlegs. He's one of my favorite artists and except for television have never seen him perform live. I have never heard a bad performance from him either. I have numerous shows form him and have played them all to the point of annoying some people. Never heard a bad one. So of course you need this boot.

JustDave's Notes:
I have other versions of this show but this seems to be the most complete. Most say "The Best Of The Clash Live At The Palladium New York NY USA September 21, 1979". This one also has pretty good sound so therefore a great choice for share.

After I downloaded this boot and listened to it I went through a bit of a "let's rediscover this band" phase. I sat and listened to my Clash albums back to back from first to last, taking them apart as I listened. I came out with a new respect for the Sandinista and Combat Rock albums. I also watched a few Clash documentaries on TUBI (a streaming a free on line streaming service that I love). There were Rolling Stone reviews that the documentaries reminded me of. Both albums were called the worst thing that The Clash had released. They also went on to say that if this is them at their worst, they still kick mainstream Rock & Roll ass. I agree wholeheartedly!

That being said I can not believe this is the first bootleg I posted from The Only Band That Matters!!
