This is such an amazing show! This has to be one of the best Jazz shows I have shared in a while. Maybe not as adventurous as the last Herbie Hancock show I shared. It is however just as clean sounding and an awe inspiring performance. I became a fan of Brad Mehldah after hearing him play a solo piano rendition of Nick Drake's "River Man" right after playing an awesome version of the Lennon/McCartney penned "Martha My Dear". There are 3 more great Brad Mehldah shows on the site here.
The flac file is large so each CD is uploaded separately and may open separately.

This is a great sounding recording with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in fine form. This recording also has The band doing 2 covers the Solomon Burke Classic "Cry To Me" & the Eddie Cochran Rocker "Somethin' Else". To add to that we have 2 unreleased songs as "The Best Of Everything" and "Dogs On The Run" were not yet released. They would be released on the Southern Accents album. You can't lose with this boot in your collection!

So I haven't been taking care of my fellow Funk Fans in the recent past so I thought I would correct that. One of the best ways I figured I could do that is share this Funky Jam at The Wanee Music Festival in Live Oak Florida, USA. The story is a volcano eruption in Iceland forced the closing of air space and restricting flights. Due to this, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings were to play the Wanee Music Festival but couldn't make it. The Funky Meters and Dumpstaphunk were to be before and after Sharon Jones so they decided to meld their bands together and cover the time for the promoters. The result is some very Funky Improvisation by musicians that don't normally play together. I mean You can hear someone in between songs laughing about the organ player having a wah-wah peddle on his organ. I can't get enough of this show, it has a vibe of pure pleasure to it.

Roger Hodgson – lead and backing vocals, piano, keyboards, bass, guitar, bells
Rick Davies – lead and backing vocals, keyboards, piano, harmonica
John Helliwell – saxophone, clarinet, keyboard, backing vocals, percussion, master of ceremonies
Dougie Thomson – bass, synthesizer, backing vocals
Bob Siebenberg – drums, percussion, backing vocals
This is not only a very fine performance but it sounds damn good as well. It's right at the time when Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies were hitting their stride as song writers. That just right mix of Prog-Rock and Pomp-Rock that they fine tune to create their next 3 albums. There are also quite a few live staples in this show. Personally if I don't hear "Rudy", "School", "Ain't Nobody But Me" and "Crime Of the Century" it's not a Supertramp gig.

JustDave's Notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some track marks, add a fade out at the end of the show. No EQ or Noise Reduction was used, and no remastering or remixing. I also double the volume to give it a little more punch. There is a TV hum which is most audible during the non music parts of the recording.
Pat & band are in great form for this show. The band actually only rehearsed one encore but pulled off an awesome rendition of their Paul Revere & the Raiders cover "Just Like Me" from Pat's 1981 album "Precious Time". This show marks the sound turn for Pat Benatar's music. She move to a more MTV Top 40ish direction that I didn't follow her into. She did however, despite my not buying one of them, continue to make hit records.

So this is the earliest live recording I have from Pat Benatar. It comes just two months after the release of her debut album. I didn't realize that seven of the ten songs on In The Heat Of The Night, including the title track, were cover tracks. The show you are reading about now has six of the nine songs are covers. To varying degrees of success Pat makes the covers hers enough to snag some FM radio attention for "I Need A Lover", "No You Don't" and "Heartbreaker". Pat Benatar's debut along with her next two albums, Crimes Of Passion and Precious Time, will establish her as one of the pioneers of Women in Hard Rock & Heavy Metal. Us leather jacket boys fell for Pat Benatar for her music just as much as her sex appeal.
