Other Notes:
Host Phil Hendrie got his start in radio at WBJW Florida in 1973. As all DJs do he moved from station to station as his career grew. He soon developed a cast of characters that he voiced. Phil Hendrie became one of the many hosts that Westwood One would use over the years. He also is a voice over actor in commercials, animated shorts and features. His credits include Futurama and King Of The Hill. He now has a podcast called Truth Is Our Bitch.
The Greg Kihn Band were on tour promoting their Kihnspiracy LP. Kihnspiracy gave The band their 1st Top 10 Hit "Jeapardy" topping the sales of their previous Hit "The Break Up Song" which hit the Top 20.

Here is something that's actually a little rare and I didn't even know it! Our good friend Draftervoi informed me that the "Pop Concerts" from Westwood One are rare. He also told me that although this concert was used in other broadcasts, this is the longest version of this Greg Kihn Band show. It's cool having friends that know stuff LOL!!! He also helped out with pictures and a couple news paper ads for the show. The Chicago 1983 Pre-FM I recently posted from my collection is also from the Westwood One Pop Concert series. I also have one from Crosby, Stills & Nash from the Pop Concert Series I will encode when I find the vinyl in all the boxes. Since the move every thing from the music room is still in boxes. It's going to take a while to get it situated...

JustDave's Notes:
- I received this in a box of Pre-FM CDs & FM CD-rs sent to me by an online friend.
- Recieved only CDs, still looking for cue sheets.
- Preservation being key this show is encoded with it's commercials.
- Commercials indexed so they may be omitted if so desired.
- This is a censored show when Robert Smith swears in a song it sounds like a DJ scratch.
- This is a hostless show so no voice overs.
- This is also a Promo-less show.
- Lowered volume of commercials by 3db as they overpowered the music.
Notes:
- Bain de Soleil was a brand of sunscreen developed by Bayer now discontinued due to lack of sales. Now a 3oz tube which was $10 US, sells for over $200 US on eBay.
- Blind Melon live in studio performance recorded and aired by KROQ Studios, Burbank, California, in studio. Aired on September 9, 1993. It was part of an in studio interview with Tami Heide. Blind Melon performed "No Rain" and "Change" and answered a few questions. An FM recording of that broadcast is in Trading Circles, from a recorder named Schizo.
- There are at least 4 bootlegs on discogs from this show most are missing songs. There is one complete soundboard recording in circulation.
- This was the 25th Anniversary of the Glastonbury Festival.
Number 2 of my Cure Pre-FM recordings and once again it's a Glastonbury Festival appearance. It's also the 25th Anniversary of The Glastonbury Festival. This means I found a few different things to include in this post.
Of real note is that Westwood One included a bonus Mini-Show. A short episode of Live From The Vault With Johnny Riggs. The recording is of Blind Melon doing an acoustic version of "No Rain". The recording is from a previous in studio appearance on KROQ-FM Burbank, California, USA in 1993. Unfortunately Westwood One only broadcasts 1 of the 2 songs performed that day. The song not aired by Westwood One from the KROQ tape is an acoustic version of "Change". I have that tape in my collection and will share it soon.

My collection of Pre-FM recordings just keeps on growing. Actually this Cure show and it's partner have been in my box for sometime but remained untouched, not even a listen. I encoded this and it's partner show as a Christmas gift for a friend and really enjoyed them.
This Glastonbury Festival was marred by a person having to be air lifted out because of a crush at the front of the stage. There was also quite a few clashes with festival goers and security. The 1991 Festival was canceled due to the many incidents.

It's a pretty active Sunday Morning here with Spider up to go see his Mother's Family (Rosebud is his Stepmom) for their Christmas Party. Our ferrets woke Rosebud and I early by clanging their food bowls. So the music of Medeski, Martin & Wood is kind of the perfect soundtrack for the morning. This is a great sounding jam session so enjoy my friends!
Oh yeah almost forgot this is a flac upgrade to an earlier post.

This is a very nice audience recording. BurnBoy has been recording from the audience for some time now and has his favorite venues on lock. Always carrying more than one recording rig, this human octopus usually handles 3 recording units at a time. He then posts all three on trackers so people can make up their minds which one they prefer. My choice usually is the recordings made with the Sony PCM-M10 like this one. You have some real nice low frequencies usually with his Sony PCM-M10 while he uses a Roland R-05 that gets some real nice crisp highs.
How about the performance you ask. Well for a band that hated the road when they were younger these elder statesmen of Rock And Soul Jazz have become quite the live unit. I have seen Steely Dan in concert quite a few times since they started touring again and every time they just got better and better. The last time they came through Detroit, on the last tour that Walter Becker was still alive was one of the best concerts I have seen in my 60 year life. The sound was so clear you could hear every detail coming from the stage. At the same time it was louder than most Heavy Metal shows at Pine Knob that year!
I recommend BurnBoy recordings to anyone who will listen to a Mike Millard or Dan Limpinski audience recording. You will enjoy BurnBoy recordings, I do...

Now this was a find that I really enjoyed. Chris Hillman of The Byrds fame with The Chris Hillman Band. After the break up of The Byrds, Chris Hillman went on to record some of the best Country Muisc to never come out of Nashville. You won't hear Chris Hillman, Gram Parsons, The Flying Burrito Brothers, The Desert Rose Band or any combination there of on Country Music radio. You will however hear their influence in any number of Modern Country Music artists from Garth Brooks on down.
David Allen Coe actually name checks Roger McGuinn and The Flying Burrito Brothers in a song that speaks to the influence that they had on him, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and the Outlaw Country movement. However the rest of Country Music won't admit that a bunch of Pot Smoking Hippie Folk Rockers were such a huge influence on their sound.

This show is on my player right now as I write this. I'm sitting here at my kitchen table, drinking coffee, looking out at my back yard. My backyard extends into some protected Michigan Wetland. It's about 80 feet deep and twice as wide (I have a double lot). I am legally not allowed to do anything with it but enjoy the view. We took our Halloween pumpkins and threw them in the middle of the back field. Right now 3 deer are laying in my back yard as a 4th stands there munching on one of the pumpkins. It couldn't be more relaxing. Have a good Sunday my friends....Ahhh Rosebud's up gotta go...

This is the first of 2 Pat Metheny shows I'm listening to this Sunday Morning. This one is a nice listen with just a little FM noise in spots but not enough to disturb your lay back Sunday Morning.....Oh there is a longer version of this show out there but I don't have it yet.

Some people might see this as a bit of a cheat because Bruford to some is Progessive Rock and to others Jazz-Fusion. I see them as a mix of Jazz and Progressive Rock which is a fusion of elements...Any way this is part of my Sunday Morning Jazz entertainment.
The recording starts a little rough due to the keyboards being so over powering but the soundman gets it under control quick the rest is a nice listening experience. That due to the remastering and speed correction done by Goody who is known for tinkering with shows and making them sound a lot better, this one is no exception.

At the beginning of the show the sound is pretty thin, but after "One" the sound fills out. I didn't try to remaster the show at all, however I did try to even out the volume some.

- The Vocopro CDR-1000PRO records at 24bit/44,1khz.
- CD-rs ripped at 16bit/44,1khz.
- Had trouble with CD-rs not wanting to take more than 1 LP side without failing.
- EAC Log given for each CD-r ripped.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- No noise reduction used.
- Manualy de-clicked in Goldwave.
Known Faults:
- No cue sheets included when purchased.
Thanks go to Draftervoi for providing Cue Sheet and Label scans along with a couple news articles from his Westwood One library.
This is a new encoding of an Original 2 Vinyl LP Broadcast Record Set in my personal collection. I had encoded this before but it was in an edited form. There were skips in some areas that were left of the last time which was basically the voice overs and commercials. Being an archivist as well as a collector I like getting the commercials too. They have been indexed separately so you can omit them if you want.
This is also a sonic upgrade as I have upgraded my equipment and techniques. The recording was made on a Vocopro CDR-1000PRO professional CD-r recorder. It's musician road case rack mount rated. It records in 24bit/44,1khz creating a high quality CD-r. It's meant for musicians to record their gigs and rehearsals. After the recordings were ripped I used Goldwave v.6.83 (no AI plugins) to manually remove vinyl pops and clicks from the waves before encoding them. I spent a lot of time working on this one trying to obtain the best quality I could. Hope everyone enjoys it!!

Shared on The Trader's Den by dandrew December 5, 1979
Very nice quality sound on this soundboard recording that just popped up at Trader's Den very recently. It's a soundboard recording from The Mickey Thomas era of Jefferson Starship. Grace Slick had yet to rejoin the group as this is before the recording of Modern Times. Meaning that "Stranger" had not yet been recorded. This is the 1st recording I have heard of the Grace Slick-less Jefferson Starship live. Interestingly to me, it seems like on the older material Mickey is singing the Grace Slick parts and some one else sings Marty Balin's parts. I think it might be Paul Kantner because he sings lead on some Freedom At Point Zero studio tracks but I could be wrong.
The extra cool part is the 12 song "Soundcheck" at the beginning! It is from a 1978 recording. Meaning of course it's Grace Slick and Marty Balin singing!! So yes it's an extra special must have for Jefferson Starship fans! I love it because I never got to see Jefferson Starship live. Closest I ever came was "Mickey Thomas' Starship" for free at a small fair here in Michigan. That my friends was nowhere near like seeing Jefferson Starship or Airplane. Bootlegs like this is all I have to keep that bad memory at bay!!!
The flac is huge so I divided the tracks into 2 downloads which can open independently

Short but sweet sounding FM version of this popular show. It has many versions floating around on the net in FM and Pre-FM form. This version is an FM Master from The Joe Maloney Collection via Krw_co. Krw_co always have great masters and this is no exception. I can't remember the actual sound quality of the different versions on my hard drives so how this one stands up to them is only a guess. If you're like me and need many versions of each show then take this one. If that's not you it's okay too.

The only other fault is it's not in your collection which you could easily fix by clicking the download link of you choice. Alright funny story...My Mom liked the 2 Michael McDonald sung singles "Minute By Minute" and "What A Fool Believes" so asked me who sang them. I got my Minute By Minute tape to show her the cover. She went out and bought the LP at the local K-mart. When she got home and opened it, she saw the big picture of a joint roach on the inner record sleeve, brought the record to me and took my cassette!

This show features performances from 3 key appearances by AC/DC in the U.K. I don't have to sell this to anyone who is an AC/DC fan, especially fans of the Bon Scott era. I play this recording just as much as the If You Want Blood You Got It live LP. Everyone needs this!

Listening to this brought back the memory of being in my teens when "Werewolves Of London" was released. It was all over Detroit radio, being one of the few Warren Zevon songs to make the charts. It was, in my memory, a big hit and part of that years summer soundtrack. I used to spend a lot of my summers hanging out with my cousins. I had been to my cousin Preston's for a few weeks and had just returned home. I walked into my bedroom to find my older brother and an older cousin sitting in my room listening to the radio. I saw the "Werewolves Of London" single on my turntable that my cousin had brought over. I turned it on and turned it up. A few seconds later my Dad walked in with a pair of wire cutters, cut my stereo's power cord and walked out. Seems my brother and my cousin were playing the song over and over till my Dad threatened to cut the power. It became a thing, if my Dad thought my stereo was being played too loud he would walk in and cut the cord. When I moved out the power cord was about 4 inches long...

There are a few bootlegs out that feature this show. There are from what I have seen 2 Pre-FM versions of this show. A Pre-FM vinyl version and this version from a Pre-FM Reel. From what I understand the uploader of this Pre-FM Reel version is not even a Rush fan. The concert recording was featured as filler on a DAT from a trade. Thankfully the uploader new what he had would make Rush fans very happy so he uploaded it to the net. This seems to be a raw transfer of the recording, no crossfades were done so a couple transitions are a little rough but all the music is a fantastic listen! And I get a live Pre-FM quality recording of my favorite Rush tune "Natural Science"!

Short broadcast from Krokus promoting the Metal Rendez-vous release. Metal Rendez-vous was the first Krokus album to feature vocalist Marc Storace, it was also the first to break through on American Radio. Metal Rendez-vous was also my first Krokus album, recommended by a fellow Metalhead in my school and guitarist for a rival band that I had much respect for. When I popped the record on it wasn't an immediate love affair. What made me like the band and album was a very short live recording. This was quite a few years ago so I can't remember where the recording was made but it proved that Krokus was a damn good live act.
When I first got a chance to see Krokus it was as the opening act for Def Leppard for the Leppard's first Detroit headline show. A show I was very eager to see having seen Def Leppard on their High And Dry tour in Ohio. I may offend some Def Leppard fans but Krokus kick Def Leppard's ass all over that Detroit stage. It had the same effect as seeing Van Halen blow Black Sabbath off the stage in Detroit, I became a fan for life!

I can not tell you how much every single one of you needs this show in your collection! Look at the list of performers above! Wow! All to pay tribute to Roy Orbison and raise money for the homeless in America. The sound is really good on this one, everything seems to come through pretty good. As with a lot of audience recordings the louder you play it, the more you hear! That's said a lot about audience recordings but when they are recorded right it's true.
To have Roger McGuinn, David Crosby and Chris Hillman reunite as The Byrds with special guest Bob Dylan is worth the download. B.B. King jamming "The Thrill Is Gone" with Al Kooper! Bonus! John Lee Hooker and Bonnie Raitt together on "I'm In The Mood". I could go on but I should not have to....
