As far as can tell Bruce Springsteen is not selling this concert. He's released quite a few old shows. This early era show has really good sound and should be in your collection. I really don't know what to say other than, It's Bruce doing that thing he does best Rockin' the house.

Now you just can not go wrong with some live Joe Cocker, and Pre-FM to boot. This Pre-FM comes from the collection of Krw_co a group of collectors that have a great collection of tapes and discs. They released quite a bit at The Trader's Den which is were I think I got this one from. Their encodings are always top notch as a rule I check out all their releases even audience. This is just like the rest, a great encoding of an awesome Joe Cocker show!

Oh Yeah! Krokus on tour to promote Hardware. The first Krokus album I bought was One Vice At A Time. I heard "Long Stick Goes Boom" on the radio, on the late night program. The late night program on WRIF-FM was different than the Day shift. Late night you might get whole albums played. They were a little looser with what they would play. When The Plasmatics Beyond The Valley Of 1984 was released they played it in it's entirety. When The Clash released London Calling they did the same. Some nights just what ever the DJ wanted to play and requests. I got them to play Black Sabbath's "Spiral Architect" when the only Black Sabbath you heard on the radio was "Paranoid", "Iron Man" and "Heaven And Hell". Hell I got them to play ELP's "Tarkus" dude on the phone sounded as high as I was...am

So my first chance to see Krokus came when they opened for Def Leppard at Joe Louis Arena. I think the Krokus set might have been broadcast. I read an interview with Marc Storace where he was quoted saying "We were kicked off the Def Leppard tour. They were jealous because we got a better reaction every night." Now Krokus kicked ass, mind you it's a foggy memory, but I remember Def Leppard being just as good. The second time I saw them was at The Fox Theater in Detroit. They were on a tour with W.A.S.P., Metallica and some other band that I can not remember. Metallica was still underground on tour to promote Ride The Lightning. You couldn't walk out of The Fox that night without some kind of impression of Metallica. They were in the middle of the show, louder and so much heavier than the rest. I had already been a fan since Kill' Em All. Already playing Thrash myself. There were a lot of people that, unlike me and a few others, had never heard Metallica. That was my last Krokus show, my band started getting regular shows in the 1980s, I caught some shows missed a lot....

Grace Slick is one of Rosebud's favorite singers. This comes from her recently expanded collection. Like i said in an earlier post The Trader's Den is closing. I have a fairly good share ratio which I am using up downloading as much as I can before October 19. They need someone that can help write code and update the site on a more modern platform. Sucks but I'm not a coder if it wasn't for the ease of blogger's dashboard we wouldn't be here.

Back to this show. It's nice sounding recording for it's age and only a 1st Generation tape, makes me want to hear the master. Hope you enjoy it!

I remember the first time I heard R.E.O Speedwagon. I turned on my radio just as the DJ was saying here's "R.E.O. Speedwagon..." and "Golden Country" came on. Man that organ and the guitar riff just got me. I've always wanted to do a Heavier version of it. It really could be a Heavy Metal song. I actually made myself a compilation called Songs That Should Be Metal Songs "Golden Country's" on it. So are Bruce Springsteen's "Adam Raised A Cain", Queen's "Shear Heart Attack", and "Tenament Funster", The Eagles "Victim Of Love" among others.

Back to R.E.O. Speedwagon. I went out and bought the album and I still have it in rotation on my turntable. R.E.O. in the 1970s had a Spinal Tap kind of saga in the lead vocal position. Cronin's in Cronin's out, Mike Murphy's in Mike Murphy's out, Kevin Cronin's in, it made for what some call a spotty musical history. The change in vocalist always has a effect on the sound of any band. I am in no way saying that the Mike Murphy albums are bad albums. There are songs on those records that the Kevin Cronin R.E.O. continued to play live. They can not leave a stage without playing "Riding The Storm Out". This FM capture is a little thin on bass but is a great performance and a nice listen!

Offer number 2 for getting over the Hump day, an FM recording of Hard Rock Legends Thin Lizzy. It's kind of ironic Ford Auditorium is no more, the Orchestra moved to Orchestra Hall it closed...WABX-FM is no more it went of the air sometime during my teen years unfortunately...Thin Lizzy is no more, we lost Phil Lynott way to freaking young...The band Thin Lizzy was revived by surviving members, but had to change their name after legal issues came up. Also it couldn't have been better if it was set up purposely. Like in a political campaign, OK Phil first of we are going to play an iconic theater in Detroit, with a real Detroit name. The Ford Theater! Then we broadcast it live on one of Detroit's oldest Rock Stations WABX. Not only that Phil, but we want you to cover a song by an iconic Detroit song writer Bob Seger! Yeah! and it's going to be the song "Rosalie" written about an iconic Detroit AM Radio Personality Rosalie Trombley who broke so many Detroit music Legends on the iconic AM Radio station CKLW! It doesn't get more Detroit than that...I think it's a key to the city winning strategy!

A sad occasion but it will bring a lot more shows to my collection. That in turn brings more to yours. This is one of those recordings, a Pre-FM Ambrosia show how about that. It's Sunday Morning and my coffee is ready. This nice show from the Bill Evans Trio is just what the morning needs....I downloaded this great show from our old friends at BigO what they said about the show is below...

What BigO Said:
Bill Evans’s use of impressionist harmony, inventive interpretation of traditional jazz repertoire, block chords, and trademark rhythmically independent, “singing” melodic lines continue to influence jazz pianists today. In 1963, Evans recorded Conversations with Myself, a solo album using the unconventional technique of overdubbing over himself. He passed away in 1980. He was 51.
