The wizarding world of 'Harry Potter' brought together a cast of talented actors who have since gone on to lead several big-budget Hollywood productions. From the spellbinding world of Hogwarts to the glittering ballrooms of Bridgerton, these actors have seemingly traded in their wands and wizard robes for some frills and gowns galore. From Katie Leung, Rege-Jean Page and Michelle Fairley, here are some 'Harry Potter' alumni who are now part of the Ton.
Actress Katie Leung's journey on the Hogwarts Express has landed her among Bridgerton's High Society. The actress who portrayed 'Cho Chang', Harry Potter’s first crush will soon be seen in the next season of Bridgerton, as Lady Araminta Gun, a twice-married and twice-widowed looking to get her 2 daughters debuting on the marriage mart this season. She is the latest Harry Potter alum to land a role in the hit Regency Era romance drama. Scroll below and see if you recognise the other familiar faces.
Perhaps one of the most well-known 'Bridgerton' stars, Rege-Jean Page shot to global fame with his portrayal of the brooding Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings. His epic romance with Phoebe Dynevor's Daphne Bridgerton in season 1, catapulted him into superstardom. However, long before his days as the Duke, Page had a small role in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1'. He appeared briefly as a wedding guest at Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour’s wedding.
Freddie Stroma made quite the mark playing Cormac McLaggen, a self-absorbed Gryffindor Quidditch player with a brief interest in Hermione Granger in 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'. Years later Stroma joined the cast of 'Bridgerton' as a Prince, a royal suitor to Daphne Bridgerton in season 1. Though his character ultimately loses Daphne’s heart to Simon, Stroma's portrayal as the prince sure left the ladies swooning and wanting more.
Michelle Fairley, is best known in the wizarding world for her portrayal of Mrs Granger, Hermione’s mother, in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1'. While she did go on to also make a mark in 'Game of Thrones', fans were happy to see her back on screens in 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story'. Fairley plays Princess Augusta, a key figure in the prequel series that gives us a look into the timeless romance between Queen Charlotte and King George III.
A lesser-known actor in the 'Harry Potter' universe, Samuel Timothy Clemmett is best known for his role as Albus Potter, Harry Potter’s son, in the stage production 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'. Did you know he also featured in the 'Bridgerton' spin-off 'Queen Charlotte'? In the series, Samuel played the role of young Brimsley, a loyal and devoted servant to Queen Charlotte.
Guy Henry, best known for his portrayal of the sinister Pius Thicknesse, the Minister for Magic under Voldemort’s control in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'. His character was integral in the Ministry’s fall into corruption and terror during the wizarding war. In 'Bridgerton', he does not play a major role, but his casting as the doctor to the King in the series 'Queen Charlotte', was equally sinister and vile.
