Birds are usually seen as the common flying animals that we see everyday. One look at the sky, and lo-and-behold, Birds! But, not many know that there are some unique and rare birds that are a birdwatcher’s delight. Here we mention some of them.

The Kakapo is a beautiful bird, native to New Zealand. It is the world’s only parrot that cannot fly and is extremely rare to spot but beautiful to look at.

With a beautiful all-black body and feathers, and slight white streaks, the Stresemann’s Bristlefront is an extremely rare-to-spot bird. It is one of the most critically endangered species in the world.

The Philippine eagle is a strange-looking giant that looks ‘confused’ about something all the time. It is also one of the rare birds on the planet and seeing one of them is a true rush.

The California condor is a giant bird, North America’s largest, and has a wingspan of up to 10 feet. Unfortunately, they were once at the brink of extinction, with as low as 27 birds left, but were revived by wildlife enthusiasts. There are now about 500 of them.

A beautiful blue-coloured bird, the Spix’s macaw is also a delight to look at. They have blue bodies and a white head, with striking black beaks.

The Ivory-billed woodpecker is another beautiful bird that is sadly extremely rare to spot. For birdwatchers, this one was a complete delight owing to their rarity, but today, it is said that less than 22 of these are left in the wild.

The Snowy owls are not endangered or extinct, but are just rare to spot. These beautiful white birds have a certain charm over people, and their role in ‘Harry Potter’ added to their love.
