Here’s my 3-part routine for keeping them healthy and productive all summer: 1️⃣ Prune the lower leaves to improve airflow and reduce disease 2️⃣ Spray with a hydrogen peroxide + water mix weekly to prevent fungal issues 3️⃣ Feed with Tomatotone fertilizer to support strong growth and fruiting It’s a simple rhythm that keeps my plants going strong even through the toughest months. Carrots are susceptible to pests such as the carrot root fly that are attracted to the carrots via scent. They then lay their eggs inside the carrots which hatch and eat them from the inside out. 😧🥕🪰 However, onions have an even more overpowering scent helping to mask the smell of the carrots, which means no more netting! I continue to remove yellowing lower leaves as they grow. There are many other methods that work. 🍅For larger varieties (slicing tomatoes), we limit the number of tomatoes on each cluster so they will grow large and healthy. If you allow too many tomatoes in the cluster, they have a tendency to not grow as healthy and large! 🍅For cherry tomatoes we don’t limit the fruit clusters! We let them go!! 🍅We get rid of all branches underneath the cluster that is fruiting. This directs all the energy straight to the fruit. 🍅We get rid of all suckers or new lead stems growing out at a 45 degree angle. We want to control the amount of growth so more energy goes to the lead stem. We do this until the tomato plant makes its way
