Why is this a predictor of mortality? Of course— it’s not the only predictor but it’s one of the ways that we can see what your risk of fall is as you age.

There are also studies that link the strength of your lower body with brain health as you age.

The bottom line is, if you cannot do this test, there are a host of other things that you can do to strengthen your body so that you can be strong as you age. Here are the ranges if you’re working up to improving at this test.

75-79	10-15	11-17

If you are in your 50s or below, you want to aim for more than  20 in the 30 sec range.
