Phrases to Help Struggling Kids
Feelings can be complicated. Sometimes, we hold space for our kids by just being present with our body language. Other times, these phrases can let kids know that we're on their side and here to help. What works for your kids when they feel this way? #gozen #positiveparenting #parentingtips
Jessica Correnti, MS, CCLS, Children’s Book Author on Instagram: "I love a good, fun activity that gets kids talking and processing their experiences and emotions. This one is a crowd favorite. I have done this activity in several different ways: 🏠 With real gingerbread houses. Have the kids decorate the house with symbols that relate to the prompt or decorate in any way that feels right to them and write/explore the prompts on paper. 🏠Drawing a gingerbread house on a piece of paper, addressing each of the prompts. 🏠 Digitally decorating a house on a program like Canva 🏠Creating a collage gingerbread house. Share this activity with someone who would benefit from it. #kidsgrief #kidsgriefsupport #activitiesforgrief #griefactivities #youngwidow #bereavedmom #therapeuticplay
Dr. Monica Jackman on Instagram: "This idea is so important to our mental health- the idea that all of our painful emotions are part of being human, have value, and will not last forever. I use this metaphor and visual frequently and it is a meditation I teach to kids and adults. So often we try to fight our emotions, our pain- or we keep moving to run from what’s happening and when this happens we shake ourselves up even more. Emotions and pain are messengers and if we can be still and listen we can learn from them- we can figure out what we need to heal from them. Comment “still” and you will receive a link to an upcoming live course to learn how 💕 #emotion #sel #socialemotionallearning #still #openmind #lego"
