The necklace is a masterpiece of the period. The three dimensional head of Medusa is exquisitely carved. The face is spectacular with an open mouth and the fully three dimensional tongue visible! The snake filled hair is dramatic and alive with snakes at the top and bottom of the head. The hair is absolutely a wonder of antique coral carving. The carving continues onto the top of the head.
