about
Surgery Season is the experimental pop project of trans artist Wolf Black and veteran Portland diy drummer Jamie Brito, aka Papi Jalapeño. Blending elements of club music, emo rock, and shoegaze, Surgery Season disregards genre conventions to create unique sonic worlds. Lyrically, their songs center desperate characters struggling for survival and bodily autonomy in a near future dystopia, in which environmental collapse has become a kind of body horror that transness attempts to remedy. Exploding onto the scene in late 2023 with a renegade debut performance at the Lloyd Center Mall, they are performing regularly in Portland and gearing up to release their debut single in the fall, to be followed by a full length album in 2026.
