about

The time of Harvest has come to an end and the smell of woodsmoke and leaf litter fills the newly crisp air. As the sun sets earlier and earlier, its last light of each day - a warming golden glow - seems to hold back the chill. At least for a little while longer.

The rich green fields of summer fade to yellow and then to grey. Trees appear ablaze as their verdant splendor smolders to crimson, gold, brown, and orange.

We light pyres and give thanks, acts of reverence and appeasement. Gourd-carved totems and candles are lit to guide the dead on their journeys as the veil thins.

The fires of Autumn are many.

But the orange October flames burn away to the ashen grey of November. Worry not though, for this is the way of all things. Merely the continued turning of the wheel.

And as the coldest and darkest nights set in, remember this: new life shall emerge, even from death itself.
