Fox Sets Fall Schedule, Premiere Dates for 9-1-1, Cleaning Lady and Others — Fantasy Island Held for Midseason
Filed under “Worth the Wait,” Fox on Monday afternoon at long last revealed its fall schedule — with premieres dates, to boot. #Efficiency (TVLine’s rather famous Fall TV Grid has thusly been updated.)
* Hmm, not much to see here, everything is very BAU — unless you consider Call Me Kat and Welcome to Flatch trading Thursday time slots a “big move.” But you probably don’t.
* The country music sudser Monarch, starring Anna Friel and Susan Sarandon, looks poised to finally, actually premiere — with a two-night event that gives it a plum post-NFL “kickoff.”
* As was the case last year, 9-1-1: Lone Star is being held for midseason — as is Season 2 of Fantasy Island, which was at first earmarked to arrive this summer before getting bumped to fall.

I was hoping it would be back this summer also. It was a fun show.
I thought so too, especially after Lego Masters and Fantasy Island were moved, figured they were seeking more summer filler.
So are America’s Most Wanted and Holmes Family Effect done?
AMM was quietly canceled and Family Effect was only a limited series.

I still can’t believe they cancelled ‘Pivoting’ in favor of ‘Welcome to Flatch.’
I had high hopes for Pivoting based on the cast. But nothing ever came together for me. The only character I appreciated was Tommy Dewey even though I tuned in originally because of the three leads. I expected zero from Flatch but the rich characterization of the residents made them endearing and worth a regular watch.

Pivoting had a great cast, but their charm and charisma can only do so much with bad scripts.

Looks like Fantasy Island has become a fantasy or a figment of our imagination with a further delay. At least when it does start it will most likely air mostly uninterrupted . Superman and Lois on The CW, take note.

“MasterChef (resuming current season)” Does that mean the season that’s just barely started will pause and then not start back up until winter?
No, we’re still technically in mid season and usually this and other reality shows are held until now….so they’re currently airing those shows. They’re not splitting the season to air the remaining episodes a whole year later.; that would make no sense.
OK, I got this cleared up. The current season (at least for The MasterChef) will wrap in the early fall. –Mgmt.

I’m still bitter about The Big Leap. My BFF and I launched a cross-country rewatch this weekend.
I hope they aren’t burying Fantasy Island. I thought holding it for fall meant they thought better of it than a fall throwaway. But now mid season? That’s a long time between 1&2. Don’t kill it by attrition, Fox’s usual M.O!

I completely agree with you. I was hoping that another network would pick them up. Fox just keep killing of there best shows. I still don’t understand why the canceled Prodigal Son or Lucifer.
Canceling the Big Leap IS a wrong decision! It’s was a show that we watch as a family.
It was so optimistic, and so well written and clever! It’s hard to hit the perfect balance of heart, snark and stereotype crushing and be utterly entertaining and stunningly shot. How do you cancel a show like that? And with Scott Foley doing some of his best work???

I was looking forward to watching Fantasy Island this summer instead of in the crowded Fall schedule. Now we have to wait even longer, don’t like this. There really is nothing to watch this summer on broadcast TV. Happy we can stream shows.
I have no faith in Monarch making it through an entire season. Susan Sarandon is playing Trace A’s wife and she’s old enough to be his mother.
So they just had a Lego Masters Jurassic World tie in preview, but it’s now not coming on till September? Yeah they’ve bounced that around. But maybe as a Fall show rather than summer they’re showing more confidence.
again fox has idiots running there scheduleing as they just should’ve kept fantasy island and lego masters for there regular summer premire dates but it seems they are trying to cancel fantasy island
I’m pretty sure they had that preview ep *because* it was pushed back to the fall. Otherwise we would’ve just had a full tie in episode this week. They gotta still get the promotional value out of it though heh

Fox did the right thing by giving The Cleaning Lady a shot in the fall instead of midseason.
Right thing on The Cleaning Lady but big mistake on The Big Leap cancel. They finally found the right role for Scott Foley and had a great supporting cast lined up and blew it.
Actually, “Call Me Kat” and “Welcome to Flatch “switching slots in good news – KAT at 9:30pm will be a stronger lead in to the Fox Affilates’ 10pm News.
Plus apparently, we got a FULL season of KAT with this early start – I’d expect a full 22!
Is Call Me Kat getting a 20+ episode order now that it is premiering in the fall?
Hopefully Monarch is a huge flop and Susan Sarandon will not get any more TV shows or movies. And hopefully #TheResident will continue for many more seasons and a movie series.
For me the show is dreadfully miscast. Not a fan of SS or TA, not to mention she’s too old for him. If they’d cast better leads, I’d give it a shot, but won’t bother with it now.
