The animated adventures of Jonny Quest (Tim Matheson), a pre-teen boy whose father, Dr. Benton Quest (John Stephenson, later Don Messick), is one of the three top scientists in the world.
Dr. Quest is involved in areas of top secret research that takes him all over the world so the government assigns Roger “Race” Bannon (Mike Road) as the Quests’ bodyguard. They are joined by Hadji (Danny Bravo), a young boy from India with some mystical abilities, and scrappy bulldog Bandit (Don Messick).
The team frequently finds themselves matching wits with evil scientists and masterminds like Dr. Zin (Vic Perrin).
A second group of episodes was produced in 1986 with similar storylines but with some different voice performers and new characters. The two series are combined for syndication.
This cartoon when it came to the art work and the detail just fantastic l know every episode one of the things i enjoyed about being a child in the sixties was watching Jonny Quest….
Pat drop the stupid racist BS, its a cartoon for gods sake, if you forget the past your doomed to repeat it. It was unlike any other from the drawings of Doug Wildey to the awesome music from Hoyt Curtin. The second sampling 1986, didnt follow storylines, showing Jonny’s mother and hadji, when in the original, jonny’s mother was murdered before they adopted Hadji. The drawings were no where near the original. Except Tim Mathieson, everyone else is dead. This should be in the Smithsonian
I was a kid when this surfaced. The good news was that it didn’t look like anything else on kids’ TV. The bad news is, Hadji excepted, the series trafficked in the villainous racist stereotypes that the James Bond franchise kept alive for another decade or so. One of the few bright spots in the otherwise predictable Hanna-Barbera collection.
