TV show description:
This single-camera comedy series revolves around the lead singer of The Heathens, a fictional band from New York in the 1990s. Known for living up to their name, the band partied so long and so hard that even Keith Richards thought they needed to slow things down. The Heathens were on the brink of becoming famous for their kick-ass live shows and the release of their highly anticipated first album. Until they broke up — the same day the album dropped.
Johnny Rock (Denis Leary) was the lead singer of the legendary (for all the wrong reasons) and caused the break-up because he was caught in bed with the wife of lead guitarist Flash (John Corbett).
Now, 25 years later, the only thing bigger than Johnny’s ego is his prostate. The drugs he really needs now aren’t cocaine and marijuana — they’re Crestor, Cymbalta and Cialis. He’s out of work, out of money and out of show business options. Thankfully, he has Ava (Elaine Hendrix) — his longtime live-in girlfriend and his moral compass.
Then a massively talented young singer named Gigi (Elizabeth Gillies) shows up. She has a burning desire to be famous, a throwback appreciation for The Heathens’ only album, and a stack of cash big enough to bring the whole band back into the studio — including drummer Bam Bam (Robert Kelly) and bass player Rehab (John Ales).
The catch is that, this time, she’s the lead singer and Johnny’s just a behind-the-scenes songwriter. She also happens to be, surprise to him, Johnny’s daughter. The race is on to see who gets famous first — and for what reason.
Episode #20 — Bang Bang
Gigi decides to go in a different direction with the band. Johnny pursues a new solo project.
First aired: September 1, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I love this show, it should be renewed,
Liked the show. I am a long-time– 60 + years–rock & roll fan and this show was just perfect for me. Look at the ages of the Stones, Springsteen, etc., who are still selling out shows. With the talent on the show, you should have a market. So what is wrong ? Keep it on TV, please.
Unbelievable this was one of the funniest adult comedies on TV add in the rock n roll references and it should be a keeper….
I love this show, it should be renewed, the characters are adults, for adults !
I love the writing
This show is quirky and constantly shifting which keeps me interested! Didn’t see the Ava-Flash coming! I hope they renew this show! Super talented cast ensemble that really works, even Campbell Scott’s guest moments were amazing!
Great show! Love the quick dialogue and the self-deprecating humor. Liz Gillies is a powerhouse.
Give it time !!
Renew!! One of the best shows I have seen in a long time!!
Dennis Leary at his best!!
I really like the show and characters. It has gotten better with each episode and I really want there to be a Season Two.
Real garbage…typical and dull.
I want to see this when it airs so bad. It could be very funny. Let’s see where they go with the story line.
