Suicide prevention hero, Kit Birks, has won a Pride of Britain award. 🏆 Kit walked an incredible 5000 miles across Europe, raising money for James' Place Charity and CALM. She shared her story along the way, talking about her own experience of suicide and recovery. Kit said: “I hope this shows people who are struggling that life does indeed get good again and not only that, but it presents you with wonderful unimaginable moments that are definitely worth sticking around for.” 💚 HUGE congrats to Kit. Such a well deserved award - not just for the epic amount of steps, but for the thousands of people who have seen your story and felt hope to stay.

Last month, St. James's Place Foundation turned our office into a film set. All for good reason 🎥 They sat down with our very own Wendy and Simon to hear about the real-life impact that their incredible support has had on CALM over the last 3 years. Vital funds from St. James's Place Foundation help us to have life-saving conversations every day and be there for people when they need it most. And it's not just us... St. James's Place Foundation have reached the HUGE milestone of donating £150 million to charities up and down the UK. What an achievement BIG congrats to St. James's Place Foundation. We're so proud to be part of your story. We couldn't do what we do without you 💚

It’s been 2 years since 6,929 balloons took over Westfield to honour the young people who we lost to suicide in the last decade. Since then, we’ve helped more than 200,000 people to show up for the young people in their lives with suicide prevention tools like the C.A.R.E. Kit. But suicide prevention isn’t just about the big stuff or the emergency moments, it’s about the small stuff we do every day too. The check-in text, the cuppa, the care package through the post, taking ten minutes to learn vital suicide prevention steps, or sharing this post so more people learn about CALM. Head to our website to learn life-saving suicide prevention skills 🤝 https://lnkd.in/dpUDXRkX A huge thank you to everyone involved in the campaign - including Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation who made this all possible. 💚

Our CEO Simon Gunning on the things he's learnt about suicide prevention after almost 10 years at CALM 💚 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay
Suicide prevention is a beautiful thing. That’s one of seven things I’ve learned from nearly ten years at Campaign Against Living Miserably. Alongside why hope is contagious, why brand really matters and why sometimes you have to smash a few windows. For #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, I’ve written about some of the things I thought I knew, some of the things I had to unlearn, and what nearly a decade in suicide prevention has taught me. Have a read.

Do something small this World Suicide Prevention Day. 💚 Because suicide prevention is more than helping someone in an emergency moment. It’s about stopping them getting there in the first place. It’s about small acts that add up. Support systems that can take the pressure when things get too much. Knowing what to do. How to say it. Feeling awkward, but reaching out anyway. That’s what suicide prevention is. And we can’t do it without you. 🤝

We're devastated to hear the youth suicide prevention charity Papyrus has gone into administration. They are a vital suicide prevention service offering critical support to under 35s. Our thoughts are with the entire Papyrus team during this incredibly difficult time. We want to acknowledge and honour the extraordinary work they have done in youth suicide prevention, and the countless lives they have saved. Our immediate priority, alongside our partners across the wider mental health sector, is working to address this urgent gap in crisis support in the UK. Our suicide prevention helpline is here for you if you need support on 0800 58 58 58 (open daily, 5pm-midnight). For support outside of these hours, or for tailored support for those aged under 18, please contact Samaritans, Shout UK or NHS 111 mental health services. If you're struggling now, remember help is available. There's always a reason to Stay. To make sure no one is left without help, we've published a list of services. Take care, The entire CALM team. https://lnkd.in/eG2C7vu2

From dancing in a star costume to shouting out the wrong answers in a music quiz - THIS is suicide prevention. 👏 1. Our ambassador, Chris Hughes, won £2k for CALM supported by his teammate Jack P Shepherd. 2. Jordan is raising cash by doing her ‘Star Girl kicks’ to Mcfly every single day for 80 days. 3. Ed’s friends and family played as ‘Team Ed’ in a Hockey tournament organised in his memory by Nottingham Trent Uni. 4. This RAF squadron pushed a 152.5kg sled for the distance of a whole marathon. Legends. 5. Terri and Stephen ran continuously for 34 hours, racking up the distance of 4 marathons. Incredible. 6. Daniel walked over 200 miles from Billericay to Barry - the start of a whole year of fundraising for CALM. We appreciate everyone who raises cash for our life-saving work. Thank you. 💚
