#Soil #health is where biology, technology and productivity meet.   At Wave by Vento, one of Europe’s leading tech and innovation events, Francesca Protano joined Debora Fino, Head of Dept of Applied Science and Technology at Politecnico di Torino and Sachin Sachin, Bioinspired Soft Robotics researcher at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, on stage to discuss the importance of soil health. Academia, scientific research and industry each brought a different perspective to the conversation. All three agreed that soil health is now a strategic priority, extending far beyond agronomy.   Why it matters: 📉 Around 30% of the world’s land is already degraded. 🌏 Soil holds more carbon than the atmosphere and all plant life combined. 🌡️Climate change is putting crop yields, water resources and biodiversity under growing pressure.   Healthy soils make farms more resilient, food systems more sustainable and climate action more effective.   At #CNH, serving and advancing the people who feed and build a growing world means putting science and technology to work in the field. Precision farming, connected machines, advanced sensing and data help farmers grow more while protecting one of their most valuable assets: the soil.   Thanks to Charlie Perreau of Les Echos for moderating the conversation, and to Wave by Vento for bringing together different perspectives on this important topic.   Photos courtesy of Wave by Vento. #CNH #SoilHealth #AgTech #SustainableAgriculture

Helping Farmers in Thailand Move Beyond Stubble Burning A new story in A Sustainable Year highlights how New Holland is helping Thai farmers adopt sustainable alternatives to stubble burning. Through the use of New Holland tractors and mulchers, farmers can turn crop residue into a valuable resource that improves soil health, retains moisture, and reduces the need for chemical fertilizers. The story features rice farmer Pichai Tosa, who tested a New Holland TT3.50 tractor and mulcher as part of a broader initiative involving local authorities and agricultural institutions. The project demonstrates how practical technology, farmer training, and strong partnerships can help reduce emissions, improve soil quality, and support more sustainable farming practices. Great #design goes beyond aesthetics. It helps translate innovation into products that people trust, use and connect with every day. At VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, Manuele Amprimo showcased how design plays a critical role in transforming advanced technologies into purposeful solutions, using the STEYR Traktoren CERVUS CVT as an example of how functionality, sustainability and brand identity come together in agricultural machinery.

A good tractor design is never just about looks. It's about purpose, where function and shape are inseparably linked. That was the message Manuele Amprimo Industrial Design Director at CNH, brought to the 20th edition of Vienna Design Week, using the STEYR CERVUS CVT as a case study. Every line, surface and proportion of the CERVUS CVT is shaped by how the tractor is used. From visibility and lighting to cooling performance and operator comfort, the design follows function while ensuring the unmistakable STEYR identity remains instantly recognisable. Built in Austria, where the STEYR brand was born, the CERVUS CVT reflects a design philosophy that puts farmers and their daily challenges at the centre of every decision. The day began with a Design Breakfast that brought together designers, students and creatives, and concluded with the talk "From Farm Machine to Design Icon" before a large audience at the Festival Headquarters. Thank you to VIENNA DESIGN WEEK and everyone who joined the conversation. #STEYR #STEYRTraktoren #CERVUSCVT #ViennaDesignWeek #VDW2026 #IndustrialDesign #CNH Photo Credits: (c) VIENNA DESIGN WEEK / eSeL.at / Joanna Pianka (c) VIENNA DESIGN WEEK / eSeL.at / Robert Puteanu (c) VIENNA DESIGN WEEK / eSeL.at / Sarah Tasha Hauber (c) VIENNA DESIGN WEEK / eSeL.at / Hannah Mayr

A successful harvest does more than get the grain into the tank. It protects the value farmers have built all season and creates a stronger foundation for the next one. Across combines, grain carts, balers and forage harvesters, CNH technologies use AI, automation and sensing to respond to real-time field conditions. The goal is to optimize four outcomes that matter most at harvest: yield, quality, time and cost. The value continues after the crop is collected. AI-powered residue management supports soil health for next planting season, while FieldOps™ turns harvest data into insights farmers can use to improve future decisions and field performance. By connecting intelligent machines, agronomic data and farmer expertise, CNH is helping make every pass and yield count. Read the latest farming innovation article.

At the Human Driven AI Summit in Pompeii, Francesca Protano, CNH Head of Technology Strategy & Product Innovation and Sustainability, shared a clear perspective: #technology creates its greatest #value when it strengthens #human #potential, enables better decisions and helps address real-world challenges. In #agriculture, this means bringing together AI, data, machines and human experience to enable more precise, productive and sustainable farming, while ensuring human judgment remains at the center of every decision. The Summit convened leading voices from science, technology and business, including Federico Faggin, the Italian physicist and inventor who designed the world's first commercial microprocessor. Today, through the Federico and Elvia Faggin Foundation, his research explores the scientific nature of consciousness and advances a powerful idea at the heart of the relationship between humans and machines: human consciousness cannot be reduced to, or replicated by, a computer. Together with Cosimo Accoto, Research Affiliate at MIT, and other distinguished speakers, these perspectives contributed to an important #dialogue on how technological acceleration can be guided with responsibility, vision and purpose. As Francesca reminded us, the #future is not something we simply adapt to. It is something we cultivate and build, using technology to expand human potential, not replace it. At #CNH, this is the future we are working to advance: intelligent, sustainable and deeply human. #CNH #HumanDrivenAI #ArtificialIntelligence #Innovation #Agriculture #Sustainability #HumanPotential

Our brand STEYR Traktoren, together with TU Wien and other project partners, has launched the HYTRAC hydrogen agriculture research project in Austria. HYTRAC goes beyond the tractor powertrain. The project combines a hydrogen internal combustion engine (H₂ ICE) tractor with on-farm hydrogen storage and refuelling infrastructure — the so-called COMBHY — to create an integrated farm energy system, with real-world demonstration planned at the Energy Hub Neusiedl in Neusiedl am See, Austria.On-farm hydrogen production uses existing energy generation resources including biomass from plant residues, wind and photovoltaics, with AI-optimised intelligent energy management helping ensure fuel production meets demand. The goal is energy independence alongside lower emissions. The project is funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Climate and Energy Fund, and builds on the pioneering STEYR FCTRAC hydrogen fuel cell concept tractor unveiled in 2024, representing the next step in STEYR's exploration of hydrogen-powered agricultural machinery.
