This was a piece for a custom Draconic species. The ideation included various horn and tail designs as well as figuring out just what level of sexual dimorphism was present in the creatures. As some others have noted, the anatomy is quite mammalian, however I've always felt dragons are probably closer to mammals like monotremes, egg-laying and primitive. I had a lot of fun working on Shang Chi. One of my jobs was to figure out the dweller in the darkness and his demon minions. This was an early pass. There was a lot of exploration. We didn't know if these creatures were going to be humanoid, so this was a pass I tried. I was really playing around with silhouette on this one and got lost in the entry to see if the sculpt. I'm always grateful to the team over at marvel and the project lead Andy Park for letting me play.
