Last week our lovely Māori Relationship Advisor, Jenny, taught a group of us how to weave a harakeke whetū (flax star) for Matariki. These are my photos.
My range of traditional New Zealand flax weaving includes woven kete (bags), kahu (cloaks), pikau (backpacks), potae (hats), wahakura (baby cots) and other items like hinaki (eel traps) or kumara kete.
