This is a great way to use up bread you might not otherwise eat! 🍞 French Toast Casserole You will need: 6 to 8 cups of cubed and very well-dried bread *Enough to fill a 9 x 13 baking dish* 8 eggs 2 1/2 cups of milk 1 cup of packed brown sugar Vanilla extract For the crumb topping: 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour 1/2 cup of brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 3 to 4 tablespoons melted butter I cubed up all of those crusts and I let them dry out on my counter for a few days. You want your bread to be dry and crispy. This will prevent your french toast casserole from turning into french toast soup or french toast mush. For the custard, 8 eggs, 2 ½ cups of milk, 1 cup of packed brown sugar, and a hefty splash of vanilla extract. Whisk this well to combine and then add in your dried bread cubes. Toss gently to make sure all of the bread is coated in the custard, pour this all into a greased 9 x 13 baking dish cover, and refrigerate overnight. The next day we are going to combine ¾ cup of all-purpose flour, with ½ cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 3 to 4 tablespoons of melted butter. This is going to be a streusel-style topping for our casserole. Crumble this mixture evenly overtop of your soaked bread mixture and bake at 350 for 35 minutes or so. Let cool for 10 minutes then cut into slices and enjoy with your favorite French toast toppings. #frenchtoast #frenchtoastcasserole #breakfastideas #nowastecooking #bakedfrenchtoast | Dollar Tree Dinners
