The Regency Town House
The basement of The Regency Town House in Hove is an almost untouched time capsule. It shows how servants used to work with its flagstoned floor and dark brown Victorian painted cupboards. The basement is dark and would have been lit by oil lamps when it was first used. The whole building was built in 1829 and can be visited on guided tours where visitors learn more about servant life.
1940's living room
1940's living room - I like this one as it is very much like our living area in the 1940's - our kitchen range was a bit different, the fire part had bars in front of it, and we had an old dresser, plus a velvet pelmet hanging around the mantelpiece (and although we had a gas stove we could also boil a kettle on the kitchen range)
