Shoe that belonged to King of France, Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King. He was responsible for the design and construction of Versaille, so naturally one would expect his shoes to be equally ornate!. This shoe is covered with silk, as were most shoes of European aristocrats/royalty. It is also covered with metallic lace, specifically lace made of silk thread that was wrapped with real silver soil. Ranking a list of favorite tangibles, I’d say that SHOES AND CHAIRS top the list. With that being said, imagine how surprised I was to come across a "Louis" shoe in a recent issue of the Style section of the San Francisco Chronicle. What could be better?
