Norman is Stoffner's second Solo-Release on veto-records. As one of the most progressive of his guild, the guitar player Flo Stoffner, indulges himself in a quest to expand the musical language of the guitar.
To transport his sublime musical ideas, he has become a sound engineer on his instrument.
His challenging, with electronics enriched sound agglomerations, always contain an irritating physical aspect.
With his virtuoso craftsmanship and by using sophisticated sound layers and sound modulations, his play reaches, from time to time, the raw power of an orchestra.
Flo Stoffner s "Norman" is the thinking man s answer to shallow harmony searches and follows the suspense-principle developed by Alfred Hitchcock in his urgency and dramaturgical construction.
Without fear of contact, Stoffner is developing sound architectures beyond any dogmas, free of harmonic rules and structural constraints.
His highly original handling of his instrument goes from maltreat to stroking and the use of a trending arc.
There is a sense of loneliness in his soundscapes and the nimbus of melancholia; beautiful darkness.
Stoffner creates a parallel world, in that, noise and silence, noise and melody, not only exist in dialogue, but in a fascinating process merge.
This simultaneity is not easy to swallow.
Stoffner is not a noise-apologist, he plays with the knowledge, that there is no rest in silence.
