bpb - Spaces

Runtime: 45:12

Baltimore-based plunder phenom bpb remains one of the most conceptually-actuated artists within the sample-predicated landscape of vapor and its adjacent modes. Each project from them emerges centrifugally shaped by theme, with recent albums oriented around ecological subjects, such as environmental collapse on 2023's 'Only Frost Lives Here Now' or the ephemeral sweetness of summer on last year's 'Rays Turn to Light'. Their latest creation evincing such investment in motif is the elegantly-conceived 'Spaces'.

Inspired by a trip to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia (where the photo composing its wonderful cover was taken), 'Spaces' is the creative result of a nature writing workshop that took place back in May of 2025. Consciously delving deeper into ecological subject matter, 'Spaces' cleverly leads sounds associative of natural environs into those of globalized population centers, each track titled in reference to a space as to evoke travel from one to the other, a concept liberally borrowed from The Avalanches' 2016 album 'Wildflower'.
