Hi All, another set of terrain finished, a quick and effective job. The set was from a Kill Team set I picked up to get the Adeptus Mechanicus Techpriest Manipulus and another squad of Sicaran Ruststalkers / Infiltrators I will paint up as Infiltrators.
I mounted these ruins on a 3mm Hardboard (Fiberboard) so the job of sorting out what area terrain boundary easier. I added modelling sand and a few tufts. The central subterranean hatchway comes with the set too.
I painted the outside with Stormvermin Grey and the insode with Zandri Dust spray, both washed with Agrax Earthshade and drybrushed with Ushabti Bone.
I picked out the details with Warplock Bronze and Leadblecher nuts and bolts and pipes, a few vents and electrical cables were picked out with green.
I like the difference between the outer walls and the inner lighter coloured walls. The importance with terrain is not to overshadow the miniatures themselves but to amplify the enjoyment when those miniatures battle over gorgeous battlefields. So, terrain is detailed to an extent, but should be quick and easy to paint.
I like the hatch, it leads to questions about what these simple ruins held, or what is below? A vast network? A Command Bunker? The red indication light a dull colour - has it lost power?
So, there you have it. A nicely put together kit, a quick and effective paint job and a muted scheme to match my battlefield. Thanks for checking it out.
Cheers, Siph. (5 points)

Terrain and Scenery - 3rd Edition Starter Set Ruins
Hello Readers, another thing off the to-do pile that has been languishing there for a fair few years! These ruins come from the 3rd Edition starter set, many many of these must be out there in circulation!
I fancied some scatter terrain, small enough to add interest and practical to be useful enough for a squad to benefit from cover so I added a base so the area would be clearly defined.
The ruins with the climbing plants was in a job lot of second hand terrain I picked up years ago, to this I added the other ruin to make the pair.
I added some piles of sprue offcuts as rubble and based using sand and PVA (Elmers) painted the same as my bases, Mournfang Brown, Karak Stone and Ushabti Bone.
I added some dyed flock patches and a few tufts of GW Middenheim Tufts and done.
A nice small scatter terrain for the battlefield. Terrain is the third often neglected army on the table, hopefully this inspires you to get some done.

Terrain and Scenery - Sanctum Imperialis from Renegade Box
Hello Readers, Thanks for dropping in. Here is my latest offering, not satisfied with the huge amount of Terrain and Scenery I managed to complete earlier this year and last year, there was the matter of the Sanctum Imperialis which came in the Imperial Knights Renegade boxset. So, I did some more!
I used a grey primer which helped when spraying the inside, and the outside was sprayed black. I was careful when spraying so the different sides remained different colours. The inside was then sprayed Uniform Grey (AP) and the outside Chaos Black.
The inside was then drybrushed Administratum Grey and washed with Nuln Oil. I used pieces of cut up sprue to create piles of debris at the destroyed ends.
The black areas were drybrushed with Codex Grey and the metal details picked out with golds and leadbelcher washed with Sepia or Nuln Oil respectively. The golds were highlighted with Retributor Gold.
The footplates were drybrushed leadbelcher and washed with Typhus Corrosion.
That's it, another piece finished, I am now at the lucky enough stage were I can pick and choose what terrain we want to put on the table. This is a nice piece, different from all the other pieces I have so far. Go on, do your terrain, they really make the game more enjoyable! (Looking at you Alex, FtF)

Terrain and Scenery - Shrine of the Aquila Complex - 6MMRPC
Welcome Readers, thanks for dropping in. Following up from the previous two Shrine of the Aquila posts, I thought I'd show off the finished article together, shows the grandeur of the piece, made from two of the GW Shrine of Aquila sets and a bit from the Honoured Imperium scenery set too.
This is a massive terrain piece and can be a great objective in a game of 40K, nothing better for a stirring defence piece, or as line-of-sight blocking terrain for the Titans and Knights we are lucky enough to have.

Terrain and Scenery - Shrine of the Aquila 2 - 6MMRPC
Hello again dear readers, thanks for dropping by. Here is my second Shrine of the Aquila, to match the other one posted a few days ago. This one was painted in conjunction with the other one, so the colours match and the final piece is the same.
This corner ruins is part of the Honoured Imperium scenery set, along with the Ruined Aquila and the Statue of a SM Hero. This bit had been waiting for quite some time to be used, and with the Shrine of the Aquila details, now was the perfect time.Again, I've added spot colour with the lamps, and doorway. The gold was Brazen Brass, Shining Gold and a Runefang Steel drybrush.
Next up will be both together, a great centre piece terrain feature. Thanks for dropping by, please check out the link HERE for more terrain ideas or the Terrain label in the sidebar. And another bit done during my 6 month mountain reducing painting challenge (6MMRPC). Cheers, Siph.

Terrain and Scenery - Shrine of the Aquila 1 - 6MMRPC
Welcome to our humble corner of the blogosphere, here is my latest offering to the terrain gods, a sizeable Shrine of the Aquila. A great thematic terrain piece and in these days of D Weapon toting Wraithknights and Imperial Knights, a good line of sight blocker and cover.
The main colour was a GW Zandri Dust spray, washed with Agrax Earthshade and drybrushed with Ushabti Bone. The walkways were drybrushed with Leadbelcher and a few small details done.
The piles of rubble were simply off cuts from sprue, chopped up with cutters, and the base was my usual 3mm hardboard, cut with a jigsaw and sanded edges. This was painted Calthan Brown (the large pot of brown in the GW Scenery Pack) and drybrushed Kommando Khaki and Ushabti Bone.I thought I'd add a little spot colour with the lamppost and lamps. A simple blue with black centre and a white point to resemble glass, hopefully it does the job nicely.
Another one is on the way, to make a big centre piece terrain. Thanks for dropping by, and more more ideas, check out the Terrain Label in the side bar or HERE. And another bit done during my 6 month mountain reducing painting challenge (6MMRPC). Cheers, Siph.

Terrain and Scenery - Arcane Ruins - 6MMRPC
Another piece of the unpainted pile of plastic now done, a nice little terrain piece. I've had these Arcane Ruins for quite a while, I used the Skulls as door carvings on my first Relictors Whirlwind in 2010! (Pictures Here). So I mean a while...
I mounted it on 3mm hardboard (fibreboard) so I could have some collapsed ruins. The painting was simply Zandri Dust spray with Agrax Earthshade wash and a Ushabti Bone drybrush. The ground was my usual Cathan Brown, Kommando Khaki and Ushabti Bone highlights and a little flock for spot colour.

Terrain and Scenery - Mechanicum Ruins
Hello Readers, I have done quite well this year so far for terrain in my drive to get decent scenery to battle over, maybe the other Weemen, Lord Halfpenny and 6thDegree will follow suit ;)
Here is the latest offering, a ruined Mechanicum building, I used some leftover sprues of Cities of Death panels to fill the interior space and add realism. Again this building is simply black basecoat, drybrushed Macharius Solar Orange (Jokaero Orange) and Boltgun Metal (Leadbelcher) with a Calthan Brown Base (Mournfang Brown), drybrushed Kommando Khaki (Karak Stone) and Bleached Bone (Ushabti Bone).
A minimal amout of detailing on the Opus Mechanicus and door controls adds interest and focus and spot colour with a few patches of hardy weed.
I have now used up all my Mechanicus type Cities of Death panels but still have the majority of a box of Imperial City to construct. And the other Pegasus Hobbies Gothic Church to do - seen in WIP stage in the background along with the finished Gothic Ruined Church and Sanctum and Rock Outcrop.
For other terrain ideas, please feel free to have a look at the other Weemen posts on TERRAIN. Thanks for dropping in.

Terrain and Scenery - Pegasus Hobbies Gothic City Ruined Church
This is a rather nice Pegasus Hobbies terrain piece, as a change from the many GW Cities of Death range. Itis mainly modular design and sturdy panels with snap fit connections which I also glued for strength. A simple drybrush of Codex Grey and Fortress Grey over a Volvo Grey (Charadon Granite-like) spray can. I also initially coated with GW Roughcoat so give a nice textured stone finish.
The resin pile of rubble was from a Battlefield in a Box range and the Cities of Death lamp brings this piece to the 41st Millennium.
Inside and out I added flagstone paving slabs (cardboard squares from the box it came in) to reduce the amount of sand I would be using and to add variation.
Another cities of death lamp to add detail and interest and it was completed with the 3mm hardboard base.

One pillar was snipped of and placed as wreckage strewn to add variety and cover for the weemen.Another cities of death lamp to add detail and interest and it was completed with the 3mm hardboard base.
Scalewise it is perfect for 28mm and height wise will hide an Imperial Knight.
Scenery is quick and easy, go do some! For other terrain ideas for your weemen, click HERE. Thanks for looking.
