WASHINGTON (ABC7) — The Florida Avenue Grill, a longtime Washington DC institution, is in foreclosure. The Grill is slated to go to auction January 18th.
We spoke with the owner but he didn't want to talk about efforts to try to stave off foreclosure.
The diner opened back in the 1940's and has been serving southern style cooking every since. Some regulars expressed shock it was facing possible closure.
Employees say the long time owner sold several years ago. The current owner apparently is facing difficulties with the bank. If he is unable to reach some kind of agreement the property will go to the highest bidder.
Some regulars a new buyer keeps the grill open. But there are no guarantees.
