Give us an overview.
This brothel-turned-speakeasy is now one of Austin’s hippest and most exclusive bars. But don’t even think about just dropping in—the intimate bar is reservations-only, so book ahead. Trust us, it’s well worth it: the tufted-leather booth, original ceiling, and expertly crafted Prohibition Era cocktails are deserving of the effort.
Who’s there?
Exclusivity inspires patrons at this bar to dress the part. Come dressed nicer than you would for a dive, honky tonk—or most of 6th Street’s bars, for that matter. Slacks and a collared shirt or heels should do the trick.
How are the drinks?
House cocktails are beautifully garnished and are elegant continuations of the spirit forward modern cocktail movement. Read: they're potent. On one night, you might encounter the Open Sesame (Japanese whiskey, Galliano, five spice, and sesame) or the Oaxacan Negroni (mezcal, Gran Classico aperitif, ginger beer, and a whole egg); on another, you might be in for the Millennial (genever, Cocchi Americano, crème de cacao, lemon, egg white, and spiced vanilla bitters).
Is there anything to eat?
While there’s no food served at this bar, it’s surrounded by many great dining options.
Did the staff do you right?
The bartenders here play the speakeasy part well—they’re into their craft, know their 1920s liquors, and exude a slight bootlegger persona.
Wrap it up: what are we coming here for?
Great intimate setting with seductive cocktails for a special date, or a celebratory night out with a small group.
